ct20b + Downpipe... whats it worth?

Postby solitaire » Wed Jul 11, 2007 5:01 pm

Hi...

Not listed in parts for sale as im not actually selling yet and dont want to be a tit potentially getting a few people excited...

Ive got a Steel CT20b (i think its called the wrc version?) & Aussie downpipe ex AL.

Both in good nick, the downpipe definitely looks used  - its had a weld done on a stress point as a preventative measure but is as good as new strength wise.

Im fairly tight on money at the moment and im trying to decide wether to hang onto it. I am not in a position to install it in my MR2 as i dont have a hoist or the knowhow to do it and the mechanics pretty much did not want to know when i enquired on how much it would cost to install.

So im basically trying to get an idea of what a fair price would be for the turbo and downpipe, so i can decide if its worth hanging on to, or if i should sell it and use the cash to tidy up my finances.

Any honest opinions will be apreciated and no offense will be taken :D

The turbos seem to go for around $600 used, maybe more seeing as the new ones are uber spendy now. I don't see you having any problem getting a grand plus for them.
But harden up and get them on the car, you'll love it.

Seriously, its not that hard. As long as you have some decent extensions and sockets you'll have the turbo and downpipe off in an hour or so. Putting it back on is easy.

Really? I had been told that getting the cat off was a pita... all that heat - the consensus seemed to be it wasnt worth the hassle if you didnt have a hoist

Well I managed to get mine off with the car up on axle stands, so its not all that hard. Then again, I also had the advantage of leaving the car in the shed for a week, and blasting the bolts every day with CRC.

It's a PITA to take out but I'm sure there are a few good blokes who will help you out for beers and pizza.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Its just a coddage doing the dam bolts that mount the block to the cat once youve done that your home freeeeee.. But as it was said chaning that downpipe alone will make a huge difference the turbos bonus difference, If anything just change that downpipe.

Can get the downpipe to turbo gaskets from ACL, I just reused my old ones. They're just a piece of steel really. Downpipe to flexi you can get some flange gasket to suit off the shelf.
