lee90 .... focus... work out what you want, save money, slowly buy parts, get everything together and build it, or get it built,
copying other peoples engines is just boring.

He doesnt really know what he wants mate, thats why we are in the same place 9 pages on

Background: He bought an automatic 4afe levin and he is basically trying to convert it to a manual black top. He has had it painted, swapped the lights and the dash and had a nasty great wing attached to the boot. He also has installed a large pair of racing seats.

What he has not done, however is anything performance wise. So at the moment its rather rice. He want to install a black top and tune it to to around about 350hp.

while he has spent probably about $6000 on the current rice mods he thinks it would be a waste of money to sell the car at this stage - he thinks it a better use of his rather large supply of cash to spend another $20000 on getting this car up to that performance level rather than buy a supra or even just a bzr.

His wife, by the sound of it, is an absolute saint...

haha that saved me so much reading...

in my view if he isnt to engine orintated he wont be able to check/service an keep the engine upto standard and wouldnt like the down sides of a well tunned 4age on the street

Just my thought... it would be cheaper... and more realiable to fit a 3sge an throw some headers onit an maybe some mild 264ish cams.... this way it will be realiable, torqey, quick

Hi lee, Can i ask what you planing to do with a 300HP car, a bit of track racing? Otherwise it would just be pointless to have that much power for daily driving.

I also have a project car I'm working on, trying to turbo it but two year onward the car hasn't change much, these thing takes time, money, research and alot of try and error. Good luck thou

race? what class? or do you mean trackdays instead of proper racing?

if you mean proper racing what you do is going to be limited by class rules. choose a class, read and understand the rules then come back and ask again.

If you mean trackdays, do the blacktop conversion after fitting silvertop/aftermarket conrods and new bearings to it, then start spending money on brakes and suspension.

Then once you have learnt how to drive the wheels off it start looking at racign proper.. at which point you need a dedicated race car if you are serious.

Lol It all comes down to you personal taste buddy :D I dont see the point in spendind money on something that doesnt actually make the car better or faster... its like burning a big bag of money to me...but thats my preference and my personal taste... Im not about to tell you to take them off...

But im afraid im still going to take the piss out of your wing  Your welcome to take the piss out of my old ae92 with its silly red mags and rediculous exhaust or my mr2 with its nasty paint job, farting wastegate and skyline mags!

Remember, its your car and you decide what to do with it... just roll with the punches when someone takes the piss out of you!

I am not a type of person would take piss out with other rides really I will go with what they really want. seriously~ I think it's really nice to know u guys and learn some new thing I have never learnd about 4age engines.
I am really greatful.
who ever your car looks nice man. at least u like it that is what it all matters in the end of the day. just don't give up your mod dream.

I know I have spend alot of money on the out look I did that because I know it's cheap out side but when it gets in to the engine stuff start to get abit out of hand. I mean it cost alot more money to make it run well and stayble and have at least 200Hp.

I am really keen to finish this project off so I can move on to do some other things. so that's why it's hard for me to give up this car I put so much hard work on it I just want to keep it going.

well my finel idea is make the car NA and put at least 180 to 200hp around 15K with LINK computer

I am goign to leave my brake as BZR brakes I have already go the brakes just getting al the parts together and put them all on at once.

engine I hope to compleate in 1 too 2 years. HOPE so

8O What? You only want to finish it for the sake of finishing it? Whats the point in that? Finish it if you love the car and want to drive it for the next 10 years or so.... dont finish it because you want to get it finished... what are you going to do with it when you finish it? If you sell it you will be lucky to get what you originally paid for the car...

lee90 wrote:well my finel idea is make the car NA and put at least 180 to 200hp around 15K with LINK computer
My Friend has a hybrid 7afe/blacktop hybrid... he makes about 140hp out of it with a link... i have no idea where you are going to get another 60 horsepower from in NA.

How much money are you estimating the car will cost in total when you have finished it? I.e. cost of purchasing car + cost of what you have done to it so far + 15k for engine?

Also... you sound pretty young... are you an absolute genius in a niche industry that cant live without you? where are you getting all your money from? money does not seem to mean anything to you... im keen to know your background...
