Can vouch for ra1s, use them personally and are v good in the wet, better than my dunlop formulas (superseeded by the dunlop direza). Always buy near/brand new or get the tyres shaved when you buy them.

No idea how long they would last on the road, I wouldnt expect more than around 20,000km though.

Tha shz at firestone barrys pt road is the man to see 8)

20000km for me is a lot. My Toyo T1-S only lasted me 13000km.

D03G is fine in the wet - not as good as a good road tire though as they simply dont have enough grooves to disperse the water.

When the surface is just damp and there isnt any "sheeting" they are far superior to road tires.

Now i've dont 10,000kms on them though they are very noisy but I like "race car noises" :lol:

For the record the tires are approx 40% worn at the 10,000km mark - pretty damn good I reckon (700hp, 1380kgs, numerous track days and road use)

I will never use road tires again even tho these D03G's arent cheap.......

I've used the Toyo R888's on my MR2 race car in torrential rain, and I consider them a FANTASTIC wet weather tyre. I have a set of Firestone TZ100 road tyres that I used to use as my wet weather race tyres until I had to drive the mr2 on a wet road on the R888's. I was surprised that they had more grip than the TZ100's. I decided to race on the R888's on the next wet race day, and they worked - in fact I won my first race at Ruapuna in the wet on R888's. They also work very well in the dry. Add in the fact that they're about the cheapest semi-slick around, and it makes for a damn near perfect tyre.

I ra RA1's on my Series 1, andwill be running them on the batty too. Great tires for racing, no idea how they are on the road though.

Kender, we have alot of guys saying R888s are horrible when it rains?

Patterson Bros claim that they sell to quite a few drivers who keep a newish set of R888's for wet weather use.

On a wet race track, I leave the other cars for dead off the start line and out of every corner. On a recent race day I qualified about 25th out of about 40 cars on a dry track. The second race was held in heavy rain with a very wet track, and on that outing I finished 2nd.
Let me sum it up - I love racing in the rain on my Toyo R888's :D

Why thank you :lol:

My rear springs are only 320lb, and I believe I should be running around twice that on a dry track. So maybe the car's always setup for rain. On the other hand even a standard MR2 is supposed to be quite a handful in the wet.

and you guys know there are around 3 different compounds you can get for the R888.

the GG is the most common compound, it will sustain high temps and lasts long. There is a SG compound which isnt rated to a high temp and is meant to be good in the wet where the GG is not.

so possibly kender has the SG, if not then I know the whole class of the bimmersport boys said they were horrible in the wet (GG).

OK so figured rather than start a new thread:

Kumho Ecsta 711. Any body had these tyres before? Grip? Wear? Wet? Dry? usual questions etc

dont ever buy them, gota be one of the slippriest tyres i've driven on the street with.

To put things in perspective I am currently on Goodyear NCT-3s at front. Dunlop steeltracs at the back. So they would be a step up anyway right?

The 712 is meant to me a good mid range tyre from what I understand. Ive not driven them though.
