Trolley jack and stands

Postby JT » Fri Aug 03, 2007 1:03 am

I'm after a good trolley jack and pair of ~3T axle stands. Ripco currently have the powerbuilt 3T jack and stands for $300 but I did a search and I had a laugh when I found out I told someone else on here 6 months ago you could get the same thing for $190. <rhetorical question>Why didn't I buy it then!?! </>

So, Im on the hunt for a good deal. Can anyone hook us up or knows of some deals? Looked in mitre10 mega and supercheap also but they got nothing thats worth buying.

yep they must do from some of the discounts I get, and obviously they're still making money off me.

and i would never buy anything liek this from supacheap, they always have product recalls etc and I remember one of them was axle stands. pretty dodgy if you ask me, i wouldn't wana risk it with their stuff.

Repco, as with any other retail company have 100% + markups. On almost everything, something like stereos etc dont usually have as much due to the competion on the same product. But because repco is such a big company (Nz and OZ) the offen gt things much cheaper, and have HUGE markups (like 300%) on some things.

Filters used to cost about 2.50 to buy when I was there, but were sold for up to 13$ (for the common Rz191a, etc) They also sold them under the Z number (being Ryco) for slightly more, even though they are both the same anyway.

Yo, I work there on a saterday. The product isnt that bad if its used within its limits, they also only sell the screw type stand and they are just crap no matter who makes them.

see trade tools in penrose, for around the $300 mark you can get a certified light weight alloy race jack, with upto like 470mm lift

unless its a sunday and nothings open stay away from repco, plenty of better places to muy from
chevpac machinary in panmure are excellent,
macdonald machinary on carbine rd are ok
trade tools in penrose are also excellent
blackwood / paykels are also good.

long way to drive from Chrischurch (JT's Location:CHCH) to get a jack me thinks

I got one for $300 ish years ago from auto parts store opposite Mobil on Lumbo near Maccas etc. Built like a tank weighing in at around 50kg, does the biss.

Just don't buy 6T axle stands, what a b***h to get a lowered car up high enough

thats a good deal! Not sure i'd buy second hand parts tho and feel 100% working under them, never know what history they have.
