missing ECU plug, smallport

Postby rollaholic » Sun Aug 05, 2007 2:09 pm

alright, so the smallport loom i have for my smallport conversion is missing one of the plugs - the 12 pin plug, which is supposed to have the following connections.

1 EFI Main
2 BATT
3 Exhaust Temp Sensor
4 Curcuit Opening relay(fuel)
5 Stop Lamp Switch
6 A/C Amplifier
7 EFI Main
8 Check Engine Lamp
9 Exhaust Temp Warn. Lamp
10 Air Conditioner clutch
11 Speed Sensor (instrument panel)
12 Idle Up Diode

seems like some of these are going to be fairly important to the running of the engine ;) does this plug connect to parts of the car other than the engine? because i got a complete smallport engine, it doesnt look like anythings been hacked off the loom on the internal side so i figure the missing plug stayed with the vehicle. can anyone suggest a solution?

Yeah.... dashboard/body loom, which is completely separate from the
engine loom. I had to buy a complete body loom to get that missing
plug.... still, I have heaps of spare coloured wires now :)

Yeah - often people forget the body loom plug that connects to the computer.....
My guess - try a 4afe loom of the same year. They will both be map sensor so there is a good chance that they will have the same connections. Good luck.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Knit yourself a loom this winter :)

When I put the smallport in my AE86, I modded the smallport loom...
and what a farkin mission that was :!: :!: :!: Had to unravel it, identify
every single wire, extend all the wires that went to the main ECU plugs
and splice in a few extras to match up to the AE86 dashboard loom.

Scored a spare body loom plug and spliced that into the engine loom in
the same place at it sat on the AE86 loom... to make it all look factory :)
From memory, the only thing I took from the AE86 loom were the plugs
and wires for the wiper motor and screen washer.

Pic shows what it looked like during the trial fit... I've tidied it up since
then. http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~wjd/loom01.jpg

Took a lot of hours, spread over a lot of months to get it done... lucky I
didn't need the car as a daily driver. Everything works just as it should,
except when you bridge a couple of pins in the diagnostic plug the starter
kicks over  I explain that as the remote starter connection :)

The one I did i had to lengthen the smallport loom to get the ecu to sit in the correct place.
