pays to remember that its not just the inspection fee - you have to bring the car up to their standard before they will allow it back on the road.

so, if its been neglected for two and a bit years, chances are it will cost you alot more than just the inspection fee.

also, if its been in an accident and they pick up on that, then you'll be up for a repair certificate from an engineer saying the repair was done safely. gets very costly very fast.

Fees all depend on the type of car.. Best to ring them

Its all based on engine size and if its diesel/petrol.

If its post 91 it would be really hard to re-register, pretty much impossible to pass the compliance tests. If its say from the 70's it wouldn't be much harder than getting a WOF. ie, they dont pull panels off looking for crash damage etc.

i have found prices vary a lot with re-regos, ring them and ask. it takes all of 5 minutes and they give you an exact figure and exactly what it includes.

it cost me $930 to get my notch back on the road, that was including engineers report because the last noob cut 6"9 holes in the back tray, had to get them welded up because they saw it as a danger if someone rear ended me, $190 for call out fee to engineer and $90 for the holes to be welded up,

Has the car been dereg'd and plates handed back, or just reg expired?
If the reg has expired but plates are live you just need to pay the 3 months plus new reg.

de-reg'd as in dormant?? or just expired??
if its only expired (you have a year after the rego has expired before they will make a car dormant), then it will only cost ya 3 months worth of rego....but if its gone dormant, then the skies the limit!
$330 for the re-vin check, then another $250 for plates and rego (depending on engine size and petrol or diesel), then the cost of any repairs that have to be done.....
