Just one of those months.... #@$%&**#$

Postby DeeCee » Tue Aug 14, 2007 2:45 pm

Meh - topsy turvy month and now with more worse news :(

Basically I got my new wheels, suspension fitted and was rolling around for all of 4 hours when the first piece of bad luck hit.

Some person backed into the right front guard - and I had only cleaned the car and gave it a cut and polish (which took 2.5 hours) and then this shit happens :( First time I bothered to clean the car in 9 months, it looked the shit and then that happened! No note or nothing. Anyway, after thinking bad thoughts and very very interesting tortures to inflict on the moron who hit my car, I returned to dinner with friends.

Anyhoo - week later, the person who backed into my car called me and accepted full liability for the accident. Tracked me through the post office of all things. Good thing I didnt' put through a PO Box aye!

So apart from the bright spot, I'm still waiting for car parts around the country to arrive on my door incl. my RC Water to Air which apparently has a chocolate bar in the package to make up for tardiness, a CT20B that needs a rebuild and an extra RC bumper with water sprayer attached.

Um.. where are they? CT20B is with friend who just moved house, so is settling down and is sending soon.. W2A is, well, still with the chocolate bar I guess.. and the spare RC bumper? Maybe i should chase that up..

Meh..

So went for a warrant of fitness during the weekend as I really needed to get mobile again and I even bothered to put the interior back in! (trust me.. i tend to roll around without the interior as I've been planning a large audio install, but haven't had the time to start it yet due to not having all equipment).

I got pinged for a highish fog light and what appears to be oil leaking on the exhaust.

So got the car over to the mechanics last night and then got called this morning and apparently its like an oil bomb has been let off and the bottom of my engine is covered in crap and they can't inspect anything. Mechanic has said that possibly the best course of action will be to pull the engine and redo all seals and gaskets etc as well as replace 17 year old hose and lines.
FARK ME!!!!!!!!!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

So for the rest of the morning, I have been frantically typing up and listing up various parts of my audio gear.. i should hopefully clear a couple of K in gear to go to the engine.. but meh.. just not my month.. and its my birthday on Thursday as well :(

Oh well.. Dyno day on Saturday.. guess we'll see what a 17 year old car with some oil leaks can do :D

Looks like my lada will have to get back on the road now = more $$$ for a daily driver. At least I have some 18's in the back i can make myself deaf with!

id suggest investing in an engine hoist and some axle stands and tools for your 2k. that way when it happens next time you dont need to repeat the exercise

remind me where i have room to sit an engine/hoist/stand in my garage or where i'm hanging a block and tackle off?

and yes.. i'll be looking at making room past all the spl boxes, parts, seats, RC bumper and other assorted car parts so that I can get my hands dirty

well i felt the pain on your situation the other night.. it was so big and hard..is it worth fixing? or cut losses?

for me, it was always a plan to pull the engine, and I already had semi budgetted for it, cept i was hoping to do interior first was all..

um.. i'll do partial engine rebuild project thread here..

everything else is a bit hush hush but not that hush hush as the hush hush factor will have to be lifted to gain best knowledge and that means non hush hush advice will need to be asked :P

i would take it down to some one who can steam clean the underside..... u mite find the mechanic is blowing some thing else! and only needs some thing done that can be done with the engine in.

well i will be looking at a steam clean and another inspection.
But my mechanic isn't blowing something else. He runs a very good shop and currently runs this cobra that was recently in NZ V8.

He is being fully transparent and i respect his opinon :)

Hmmmm
From the look of that classy cobra he may be one of those people who will rebuild any mechanical component that gets a speck of dirt even near it.

lol. I'm so funny.
Nice cobra.
I may have gone off topic.......

Clean it, and see where the oil is leaking from. If its everywhere just get another engine. Its waaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than even a partial rebuild.

The problem is 3SGTEs leak from everywhere, its pretty difficult to trace leaks without motor coming out. Plus they gen 2's are getting on now (the gen 2 stopped in 93, at least in ST185s), so 14 years old at least.

Thats a damn nice cobra!

I think everyone is in more or less shit... Just look on the bright side!

I will graduate next year with a 50k loan
I have two cars, one snapped a cam belt and will need a whole new engine which was my daily, and my other car.. i cant get insurance on it and cant be parked anywhere without some morons trying to break into it.
Last time i did someone $&#$% the lock, caused $800-$1200 of panel damage and didnt get anything. There was nothing to take anyway, no stereo nothing. Just the car it self which was alarmed and imobilised and parked in a busy area on a main road during the middle of the day for less than a hour and a half.
I have maxed out my credit card
My bank overdraft has been over $1800 for the past two years...

At least you havn't been diagnosed with a terminal illness, lost limbs, become paralised or lost a loved one... you're car has a oil leak and a dent...
PICS UPDATED DAILY
Evo IV - 13.0 @ 167.8 kph Full street trim - SOLD
Boosted 4age Ke30 - Im back and better than ever!
