I was really supprised at how quick a tiptronic vr4 legnum got off its ass from the lights... and i own a manual twin turbo legacy. Then again, neither of those cars are good on gas.

Legacy is about <300 ks to a 60l tank. not running mint atm, needs a service.

Well I would go with SW20 Turbo crowd. (round shape MR2, for those who don't know).

You can buy one for about 4-5K. Spend $1500-2500 on the right parts and it is a 12 second car.

I am sure it will be more economical than my GT4.
Out of about 60L I do 500Kms at best. I have worked out about 12L/100Km (~8.3km/L for pedantic Europeans or ~19.6 mpg for backwards yanks). Since SW20 is lighter and is 2WD it should consume about 10-11L/100Kms in same driving mode (bumper to bumper, start stop traffic 70% of time and sunday thrash rest of the time).

Because they are quick and cheap?

Only expensive to fix if youre too lazy to do the work yourself.

The quickest N/A your proably going get thats not going to use much gas i.e. not a v8 is going to be a vtec crx, as much as i hate them.

But I reckon the daihatsu charade turbo is a much better idea. Or a Turbo Fait Uno or a Turbo Honda City. Would be great fun to play with and very cheap to mod.

Can vouch for Uno Turbo. They're dangerous in the wet though - mine understeered if you came on boost in 4th

My little RunX is the closest thing I can think of that would fit in all but the "cheap to buy" that he mentioned.

1.8L, 180HP, 480kms/40L fill(45L tank) on normal driving, 420kms on spirited driving, 700+ on a trip. Costs me ~$25 a month for full insurance at $16000. Will do ~220km/h down straight on levels, which is about it's, and my balls limits.

Purchase price was $18000 though.
