new nationals drag racing rules

Postby deanis » Tue Aug 28, 2007 11:33 pm

there will be an upcoming meeting with the four and rotary organisers and a few members from each of the main car clubs to sort out how to run the nationals better that in the past.

on nzhondas i started a post about the rules for the drags and we started proposing some rules (basically designed to eliminate v8s and bikes from entering street classes. v8s are already banned from pro and pro street this season. logical to carry it on to the street classes.)

the decussion soon started to change the whole class format of how the event is run. instead of having the old 4wd,2wd,NA,DYO classes people are thinking about a qualifying style of event like NHRA where there would be a top 16 and then the rest of the classes would be one second indexed.

so everyone gets 3 qualifying runs and then you get put into these classes:

C1 4wd turbo top 16
C2 2WD turbo top 16
C3 allmotor top 16
C4 11.00-11.99 second index
C5 12.00-12.99 second index
C6 13.00-13.99 second index
C7 14.00-20.00 second index

DYO would be scrapped.

the last class may seem a bit random but most people agreed that we are not here to see slow cars run. this would allow slow cars to come along and qualify but get smoked in the first round.

feel free to modify anything to your liking but be sure to post a reason for it.

anyway, thats enough from me, i will be checking this in a couple of days to see what you guys think. here is a link to the original post: http://nzhondas.com/phpBB2/1-vtu72437.h ... sc&start=0

another option that some people like:

C1 pro import
C2 pro street
C3 4wd turbo top 16
C4 2wd turbo top 16
C5 allmotor top 16

and if you dont qualify youre on the trailer.

dyo is the only class that shows a decent amount of skill in having your car being consistent all day long b.s if they abolish it.

Hmmmm, me thinks that rota's will dominate the all motor class, perhaps they should have their own.

yeah the allmotor class is becoming a pain in the arse to organise. everything else is gonna run 11s except for allmotor where guys with rotas will dominate, guys with hondas want them in a different class and guys on performance car dont see whats wrong with having a stock lexus v8 that can out run everything. its very hard to plese everyone.

anyway. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF HAVING JAPANESE V8s IN THE STREET CLASSES?

My ideal lineup for the 4 and Rotor nationals:

C1 Pro Import

That is all.

but it is for slow cars, and is boring,

i agree with al, bracket racing is gonna make close racing, bringing it down to reaction times as well as still having the pace.

just say for example with 2wd turbo, i saw someone mention on nzhonda about running as all of them, but in there having a second bit withing for fwd and rwd. cause lets face it, there are lots of consistant low 11 cars, and 1 maybe 3 fwds that will compete with them, bazz being one. me on the other hand hopes to be running consistant low 12's.

to sum it up, bracket racing :D

nah I dont like bracket racing.

how it is now seems fine, just get rid of DYO and put the rotary n/a's in another class.

Bracket racing comes does not make you try and drive your car as fast as you can.

If you car is capable of 11.88's your not going to enter the 11.00 - 11.99 class are you,
Just enter the 12.00 to 12.99 and drive slower.

dyo is the same. people play around with there boost to make there car faster or slower while they are driving. adjusted depending on the launch they have just had and the position of the other car.

and that's the sort of attitude that disencourages people from actually putting their car on a track, are these sort of events not aimed at trying to get more people involved and less people on the street?
