From the supras.org.nz mailing list:

Cully wrote:I met this guy at a track day in Taupo a couple of months back. The car is quite nicely done, but it's a complete waste of time: goes like stink in a straight line once it's rolling, but taking off or cornering of any description and it's spin city. One of the best racing drivers I've ever met drove it, and even he couldn't keep it on the track.

Sounds like some Traction Control might be needed to tame the beast.

i guess, apart from the added weight, the problem lies in where its sitting - so far foward of the front suspension.

perhaps if the firewall had been modified to allow it to sit further back in the engine bay it would handle a little better.

probably sounds insane when it passes sideways, and does mean skids... but hard to imagine having too much fun in a car you cant turn corners in!

it turns corners good, just not fast.. , can link up corners (sliding) no matter how far or how straight the bend is, and it can link s bends repeatedly without straightening up .. all up heaps of fun and mean drift machine.

Was never intended to be a grip track car, and it skidded off the track once during that track day, and only spun 2 times that day, hardly spin city..

it needs more camber up front and wider tires to make it turn better. I was only running 195x60x14 at taupo, that's not going to cut it for grip is it. :)

that was a fun day, very cool car, i've never been in something that goes sideways so easy under some throttle. you get the feeling your not going that fast as well, but you look at the speedo on the back straight 8O but yeah, not a grip racing car,

good luck with sale eugene,

You forgot to mention that the rear springs u were using didnt have enough gap between the coils and were binding. As dad said it just felt like it had no grip at all in the rear, the weirdest feeling he has experienced in a rwd.

I think when u stick in the better springs it will handle alot better.

nice to hear a bit more of the other side of the story, sounds like its not as bad as people are making out. makes me wish i had some money actually :P

this went to a place across from my old house bout a year ago? my mum thought i was taking the supra out for a drive, looked on the lawn and it was still there, looked over, and saw this "tame looking red car" across the road making the noise "it sounded like your supra" she said, she doesn't know a thing about cars though, just that she recignised the engine, haha! awesome car, good luck with the sale man.
