Toyota Employs someone to read toyota/auto blogs

Postby rolla_fxgt » Mon Sep 10, 2007 6:51 pm

Found this http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/07/how-very-meta-toyota-employs-a-guy-that-reads-blogs-and-we-blo/
today when looking on autoblog, unsure how relavant it is to us in NZ, but must be good for the Ae86 revival if toyota are prepared to pay someone to read oppinions of their buyers & fans online
Ending up with spare parts in assembling things since 1983

Would be interesting to see how much they read into that. Just because people worldwide want it to come back doesnt mean they'd be prepared to buy a new one.

I've told my wife that if it comes out, I am buying one, and thats final...

After I have it, I guess the divorce proceedings will mean it will be all I have.

It would be very cool but would it be the same? I highly doubt it.

But then again, Toyota bringing out more proper sports cars would be bloody fantastic

But yeh, +1 for the sell everything else to buy it crowd

I doubt they'd go to all the bother to have it not be the same. Though they'd probably try capture the same 'feel' and update other bits accordingly...

Would they be as cool if everyone got ahold of one? Who cares.. i'd do anything to get one..

edit: hmm, after looking at the concepts I wish they'd just do a straight remake of the old one :P

i dont think they should reproduce the old 86, let it be a part of history.

what they SHOULD do, is make a new RWD trueno, and start a new icon.

i also think rather than try to remake a legend, improve on something not so legendary. A *zz-ge rwd Celica would be the go, released alongside the new supra/lexus. Would be an impressive lineup

Is that not what the Altezza was meant to be?

RWD, reasonably good HP for N/A, apart from the badgesaying altezza not trueno or levin...........

i guess time will tell on that one, i've never been a huge fan of the altezza. very nice to drive but doesnt grab me as a real gem... a bit heavy to step into 86 shoes too :P though i guess its pretty hard to make cars that light anymore with all the frontal impact rules etc.
