haha i use my smaller lights onmy trueno in the same conditions, but i dont use my headlights....

seems 'primer' grey ae111's blend in to the scenery waaay too easy...

Fog lights should have a cut off pattern. Think half circle if shining against a wall/board, If yours don't then they are designed as driving lights.

Also. Fog lamps are supposed to be okay for use during conditions that cause severe reductions in visibility. This can include heavy rain.

Also. I feel that fog lights are as much for you to see by, as to be seen by. If you're headlights are in the fogline then they are often pretty useless, but the fog lights should (hopefully) be below the fogline and therefore providing you some ability to see the road.

True driving lamps should only switch on with your highbeam in my opinion.

In saying all that. Don't drive with your fogs on unless you need them... it's just plain rude.

Bah, not having a problem with factory fitted lights in the lower bumper here.

Don't make the headlights any brighter because they shine at the road, not at oncoming traffic.

Cops can be damned. And the rest of you.

Same deal here. I drive everywhere with my factory driving lights on, they are quite bright (i can drive at night with only them) but they point more to the ground so you cant see as far. Never had problem with cops, and doesnt affect other drivers. I reckon it does help other drivers see me

So the amber lights that are on the inside of my headlights on my Corona are classed as fog lights? They're not very bright.

Are the lights in the bumper on the sw20's classed as fog lights? I generally have them on on the back roads , but if they are classed as foggies i can just use the popup lights...

Or is it more than likely that the cops are only going to pull up the boyracer type cars? because my mr2 is stock

Nah, I've heard of plenty of ordinary cars pulled over for fogs.

Sweet, they're not overly bright but make a bit of difference at night cus the headlights are rubbish.

Yes. Look at the lighting section in the VIRM. There is fog lights and daytime lights sections. "Driving lights" being ones that are bright with no real pattern are classed as an extra set of high beams

The VIRM mentioned that mani beams include driving lamps.

I actually find mine quite useful especially when driving round 4wds... they send to duck out and hit me cause i'm black and low to the ground... had it happen twice now... so all the more light i can produce, the better

What gets be agro, is people who drive past me at night, with their fog lights on.. and flash their high beams at me because they think my LOW BEAM is too bright? well $&#$% me should I drive with no lights on then.


Get your beams adjusted, its not normal for people to think your lights are bright! Low beam should be dipped, ie point towards the ground.
I think most people who are finding it better to drive with fog lights of all things dont actually have fog lights or have wrongly set up lights.

I got a set of HID lights on my car, they work very well at night and when on high beam on a open road they are beautiful. Can see so much and are so easy to drive with. A lot better than the halogens i had.

They arn't cheap though, especially because you need a HID housing too.

And yes, people with their fog lights on piss me off too!

Coming from the UK i've generally never used fog lights unless it was foggy (Which was most mornings). Since being over here for almost 4 years now and seeing the crappiest driving ability short of Egyptians in Cairo i make damn sure people can see me when i'm driving around.

I don't have any issues with peoples fogs being on as generally it's not like being main beamed, unless they have a 4x4 and spots.

I for one until the average driving standard improves over the current driving ability of a elderly blind chimp will continue to drive with fogs on.
