Ford takes legal action against LTSA

Postby snwtoy » Sun Sep 16, 2007 7:30 pm

Bahaha. Just saw this on the news.

Ford are spewing about the new ad which shows a gunmetal falcon losing contrl on a clear fine dry day.

LTSA: but we debadged it so it looks generic

The ad cost $2mil to make, and will be taken off air .. bahaha

I doubt it will actually be taken off the air at the price it cost, seems like a pretty massive mistake for them to make though.

Its pretty obvious what car it is. I actually thought it was a ford add when I first saw it.

I'd have rather had them spend the money on something better than an ad :(

Funny how Honda and Toyota haven't complained about the portrayal of their Accord an Camry respectively in past anti-speeding ads. Are Ford being just a little sensitive because the ad might hit a raw nerve with their prospective target market?
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976

I just got a huge feeling of de-ja-vous (sp?). Coming into this forum, seeing a topic about Ford and sitting in a dark room with a DVD sitting at the menu screen, while knowing that a famous person has more than likely just been killed (Colin McRae :().
All this has definately happened before. 8O

Hmm. Anywho. I kinda don't blame them for taking legal action, their ad is clearly a 'Fords CAN fall off the slot car track' ad. If nothing else, it is the opposite side to that ad.

i'm glad someones taking them to court over it, & the LTSA response is laughable, "we debaged it & so most people shouldn't be able to tell its a ford".

wonder if its a bit of a coincidence that they used a ford for the ad, and they just announced the cops are renewing the lease contract with holden for the cop cars....

I think that is half the idea... targeting the fact that the advertisements for a lot of modern high powered vehicles are shown to be driven like that on regular NZ roads.

or maybe it could even be a subtle one aiming at the middle aged businessman (who is more likely to own a Falcon than the other cars they've crashed) driver?

Gee, you know, *I* thought it was a Holden!

(Sarcasm, to those idiots who can't recognise it :P )

Its obvious why Ford aren't happy. Their car has spun out of control due to land mines on the road and they're having their cars handling blamed for it.

I mean, who puts a land mine on the road anyway?
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
