AW11 Handbrake Adjuster?

Postby FST4RD » Thu Sep 20, 2007 9:07 pm

Tried searching but only came up with SW20...

Where is the adjuster for the handbrake for the cables?
I know about adjusting it at the pistons but wondering about where the cable adjuster is?

Thanks

Under the car. Bang in the middle. You need to remove some plastic covers.

Loosen it all the way off, press the brake pedal hard a few times then do up the adjustment so its kind of tight but not pulling the handbrake mechanism on the caliper.

note the handbrake cables on these cars are sh1t. Ive replaced 2 out of the three, and I suspect the other was replaced by the previous owner.

Argh so let me get this straight, let the handbrake off and jack the car up, remove the plastic shields and then loosen the adjuster, then press the brake pedal a few times and then tighten the adjust up but not so it's pulling on the caliper right?

Handbrake works perfect but the guy at the last WOF said it pulls a little to far back so just need to lower it a shade :)

There should be instructions on the plastic cover how to set it properly, it's pretty easy to do. They pull up pretty far no matter how tight you have it though.

Hmm well taking it to this well dodgy place that I normally go to so hopefully fingers crossed it makes it through!

if the warrant inspectors all decided to fail AW11's for excess handbrake travel they'd all be off the road within 6 months, haha
