funny you should say that, it was at my rust guys shop when i saw it, had a chat to him about it, he said it was in quite good condition, only rust in back arches and drivers side sill, it wasn't driven on the coast roads but the bush lands and hills around it, it was jacked up higher then factory,

Shopping mall rally lights :))

Postby jondee86 » Tue Oct 02, 2007 9:00 pm

Yeah... sold new here in 1884. Standard NZ spec (same as Euro spec)
with electric sunroof, aircon, LSD, boot spoiler, front lip, wind up windows,
manual mirrors, analog dash and pushbutton double DIN radio... woot :lol:

The previous owner had it resprayed in the original colour, and I have
swapped in a smallport. Still have the bigport in the shed in case I decide
to change it back. Otherwise pretty much factory stock.

The spotlights came with the car, but I took them off as soon as I got
home !! And I just had to have the Superlites, because they are "right"
for these cars :)

@Revhead
Model: AE86R-ECMQF
Frame: AE86-0040868
Colour: 3D6
Trim: Y032
Trans/axle: T50/T283
Plant: A52

Any of that useful ??

@irish
The colour code is 3D6 as above, and I would describe it
as a copper/bronze metallic. I've attached a larger pic below... and
I have others :D Never considered selling as I'm still pouring money
into it !!!! What is your time frame, as in 12 months I might have
changed my mind.

@BZG|Bling
It's the classic styling... never goes out of fashion :)

as a matter of interest...
build date jan 1984.
unfortunately as the EPC doesnt list any colour coded parts, and the touch up paint list doesnt go by colour code (wtf) i cant confirm what toyota called that colour. is that the stock colour?
all the nz new ones iv seen are either bronze, red or blue. i think 2 shades of blue.

Couldn't hit a barn door... great :)

Postby jondee86 » Thu Oct 04, 2007 8:45 pm

Barn Red Metallic ? OK... the people who name these colours can get
quite poetic sometimes :) But it is the original colour, and it does vary
a bit according to the light. And this colour came out with grey bumpers
rather than black. I thought it was a bit weird, but I came across a guy
in Aussi who had the same colour car, and he had the grey bumpers
as well !!!

@irish
If you are gonna be in NZ for a while, we can catch up some time. I've
been installing TRD bushes and tidying up the suspension, and hope to
have that complete by xmas. That just leaves a wee bit of tweaking on
the motor, and she will be ready to go out and play :-P

Cheers... jondee86

While I appreciate your love of the NZ New car, why do you not want a Jap spec? If it is for collectors value then I understand but if it is for difference in spec then I am lost?

to be honest its a combination of things really,

1) the nz new spec is the same as our spec with the following exceptions aerial in drivers wing its passenger in uk spec, electric sunroof was only availabe from 86 on in irish/uk spec, no side indictors in the wings, lock in the petrol cap and clock in kmh

all the main things are the same back lights boot spoiler stickers lights in bumpers and there irish/uk new colours,

At home ireland has the biggest following of these cars in the world outside of japan, just look at the prices they make, nearly everyone that was sold in the uk was imported into ireland, it was only recently with the drifting taking off they got anyway popular in england.

i've had these cars for the last 7 or 8 years ans want one now to keep for good, its a uk/irish spec one i want and as i'm linving in nz at the moment if i could get one here and bring it home with me it would be ideal.

2) the japs may have drift stuff performance parts etc etc but they come in colours that werent availabe in ireland and are not the same spec,

what i want is a nz new or original irish/uk car to keep for good and keep original, i can always buy a jap for diffing and wrecking in anytime.

i know over here the panda drift look is all the go but at home and to me it'll always be the original uk/irish or now nz cars in original colours the rares the colour the better

for example at home if you had a uk 87 burgandy car these were only availbe the last 12months of production came in facelift spec with a tweed interior and dim dip lights in perfrect condition it could be worht 15-17k + euro 30-35k nz dollars + a top spec'd panda immaculate jap import even with some crazy engine conversion or original 4age with top class parts with everthing done would be wiorht 10k euro.

its the original cars in the original colours are what we like, as far as we are concerened there for keeping japs are for hooping and wrecking

if anyone can help me to find one i'd really appreciate it.

And of course, the NZ/Euro spec cars are the best looking of
all the AE86 variants 8)
