why? you car doesn't legally require it. it'll have a chassis number stamped onto the firewall which is all that is legally required for that car

Ever tried ordering parts for a toyota with out the build plate? Not easy, but then again, replacing the plate with out one to go off would be even harder.

Personally i tend to just ring up whichever dealer I want to purchase off and give them the part number, but i do have a toyota parts program loaded into my work computer so that does make it easy. haha

no you cannot get a remade build plate
for most cars any decent parts guy should be able to figure out most things.

how about finding someone that has the same car as you(or closest to) and copy the plate for future reference,

yes thats a good idea.

its really on some trim bits etc that the full coded help with. or if the car has some weird options.
if the customer knows their car, then its not too hard.
however if its some woman who thinks tellng you its a red corolla is all you need.... :x

Um, so why do you always ask for the chassis model, build number, colour, the way the car is facing, how many wheels etc etc before you will look for parts Warrick? What are you trying to say there?! ;-)
