A blown tail light fuse, installed a headunit while you was at it?? Did you use the green wire as the earth?

I had that issue in my old Celica Supra and it was a sick tail light relay. They would be on for 10 minutes, off for 10 minutes, on for 10 minutes...

What model of corolla wagon?

If it's an early RWD model they used to have an extra park light switch on the dash, KE70's etc had them above the stereo of by the rear demister sw etc etc.

If the switch is missing or unplugged, you get some of the lights not working, but usually only the exterior lights stop.
