are AXG adjustable?
as iv asked for them multiple times.... and they immediatly say "no sports shocks in KYB, have to go koni"
what branch to you deal with?

Auckland or Wellington, depending on who I can get through to. If you can, talk to the Wellington rep, he's on to it.

Cheers for the replies guys. So you lot reckon the kyb excell-g shocks are pretty decent?

I replaced all the shocks when i put the springs in a couple years ago. Monroe gas reflex in the rear (seem pretty good/firm) and some shit monroe oil inserts in the front (all repco could give me at the time). These shocks suck and dont have anywhere near the rebound damping the front needs with the kingsprings - I just want to make sure the replacements are going to dampen enough.

I've also got conflicting part numbers about the kyb's, they're either 365041 or 365064 - anyone know? Anyone know of a compatible part from a celica or something that might have a bit firmer rebound?

Edit: Looks like 365041 is the corolla shock - though the fact that its also listed for a diesel corolla hardly says "sport shock" to me. The 365064 is listed as a front shock for sw20's and late 80's celicas. Might call stocks and see what info they can give me

OK, for anyone wanting the same info:

I just ordered some kyb 365064's from Stocks;

KYB 365041 is listed for ae82
KYB 365064 is listed for ae92

Should do the trick

A few years ago we entered the 3SGE AE101 rally car in the Taranaki tarmac rally and on the way we called in to the friendly wrecker and grabbed a pair of AE101 Levin rears for spares.

On the first stage one of the rear TRD shocks expired so we changed to the std items at the next service.

The car handled superbly with 40mm Bilstein on the front and std on the rear.
We actually ran the car with this set up in a few gravel events too and it worked really well except that they didn't last long before losing most of their dampening effect. So we went back to the TRD items.

But in a road car they should be OK. Modification by increment is the way to go.

Dave @ TSV in Palmy has a whole catalogue of AGX options

Looking at the adjustment system the AGX shocks have, they seem to have the wee dial on the side... which would suggest a whole replacement strut as obviously an insert could not be adjusted in that fashion... Stocks aren't just assuming you want an insert as opposed to a replacement strut per chance?

it would be an extreme act of muppetry to think id want inserts for the rear of an AE86!

its not a model specific thing.... according to the local branch in wellington stocks do not do any KYB sports shock. not one.
