Yup. Whats up with Palmy and cars? Nothing better to do I guess. Damn I miss that car, everytime I see it I get sad. Now I'm halfway around the world driving nothing! :(

Yeah there was a crashed 205 WRC up for sale on trade me not long ago - ended up selling for $2500 - would have grabbed that if I was still up in Aucks.

I wonder if that RC up in Northland was the same one that Malcolm and I went to see once.

Saw it in the paper at about the time I bought my first four and gave the guy a call. He was up in Oponone or something and had this 'RC' that he wanted to sell for $8000 - which was a crazy bargain for the time.

So we pile into the car and cruise on up to the middle of no where through this crazy forest to meet a dude who didnt appear to know he had a gem in his possession. Took ages to find his place (first house on the right after the forest with a toilet for a letterbox) and we didnt get there till dark.

First impressions were good - Black beauty - looked great although it needed a clean. Wide body, RC bumper and bonnet etc. Even had RC stickers down the side. Also has the massive wide as 3 peice Ferrari looking 5 spoke wheels on it. However there was no W to A and from memory the chassis numbers just were not right.

So we left it and let the guy know it was not genuine, which he argued about coz his mate at the local garage reckoned it was and was worth 25G. He basically said "Oh well I'll keep advertising it as an RC till someone who doesnt know as much as you buys it"

Big waste of firkin time.

So yeah if thats the one up in Northland - then its not genuine.

well the one I heard about in Northland was ST185, had the w2a, leather interior, badging and embroidery, didnt' go as fast as a subbie and was flicked off for $2.5k or something ridiculous.

as for the one in the Wairarapa, will be checking it out in the next couple of weeks to confirm whether its the real deal or not.

Its like my one, on paper it says CS or people claimed it to be CS, but it wasn't in the end and with a bit of detective work we'll figure out whether this one is the real deal or not.

I Just about purchased a "RC" years ago and have regretted not buying it ever since although I may have got away unscathed as It was Black with Ferrari styled wheels, water to air intercooler and had a RC sticker on the side, I remember it to be quite slow and also remember its interior to be quite bland, the car was for sale at a dealership in Papakura for $12,990

I love these cars and am currently on the hunt for a wide body Celica.
What should I look out for??

There is a White wide body GT-Four Rally on TM at the moment that features a RC bonnet, Would this mean it has a water to air intercooler like the RC/Group A models perhaps, It doesnt run a Group A bumper though.

How many Group A ST185's were sold NZ new??
