Major flooding problem.

Postby Burning Angel » Wed Oct 17, 2007 12:30 pm

while setting the base timing on my car (sr20de with lem G3)
with the fuel turned OFF on the link the engine all of a sudden stopped cranking like it was in gear or siezed.

So i pulled out the plugs and cylinders 2 and 4 were FULL of petrol.
This means for some reason yet undetermined(cuz it started raining) the injectors were switched on all of a sudden, either by the link or more likely by shorting to ground. BTW i have injectors 1 & 3 wired together and 2 & 4 the same.

anyway i blew out the petrol with compressed air, replaced the plugs and it still wont turn over :( .

what are the chances I've bent a rod or maybe damaged the starter motor?
i just want to determine why it wont crank so i dont do any(or more) damage.

hard to imagine the starter bending a rod?

can you turn the engine over with a ratchet on the crankshaft?
BASU!

turn it over with the starter with no plugs? I dont think you will get it all out blowing it with a air-gun

I flooded my 4agte very badly while fault finding the ignition system and failed to disconnect the fuel

they can be very very stubborn bastards to get going again.

I had to remove the spark plugs , and disconnect the injector plugs so you dont add any more fuel, and turn it over for about 30 seconds. while the plugs are out sand them up nice and clean as they are probably very fouled too.

even then i had to empty half a can of engine start (ether) into the intake to get it to catch (keep fire extinguisher close to hand) , once it caught it ran on 3 cylinders for about 5 minutes until it burnt out all the fuel and cleared its throat.

good luck

nah it was all out you could see by shining a light down the sparkplug hole.i actually had a small tube right in the cylinder to blow it all out.

i havent tried cranking with no plugs yet as it started raining.
if there is no petrol to stop it turning the what is?

i may not get a chance to try it again for a week because of work so ill have to see what happens

can you turn it over easily from the crank with a ratchet? easiest way to see if its gonna turn over.

if it turns over easy enough then start looking at the starter motor.
i also had to get mine rebuilt after cranking it too much when it didnt want to go.
