Just a heads up, following some calls I got about the scrutineering on the day. Stuff not to do, that was happening that day.

1) Polycotton overalls are not acceptable
2) PK screwing an extinguisher to the floor is not acceptable
3) Non sealed batteries in the cabin, and not in a box is not acceptable
4) Helmets with no standards markings are not acceptable.

Manawatu car club will be getting a follow up phone call to that effect.

Just so you know, that if you turn up at events run anywhere else with any of these things, you won't be competing until you fix it, and that would suck. At least if you know that the scrutineering for that event was not to an acceptable standard, you can work on improving your car so you can compete at other car club events.

Do you follow up on all things like this Leon? I've been to some other trackdays where scruitineering was pretty laidback also. I think you'll also find that anyone who's car wasnt quite up to scratch was told exactly what needed to be done to do so, its not as if people were just told they'd passed and left to their own devices.

Brad, some 'trackdays' don't come under MSNZ so if the organisor doesn't do a safety check that is up to them and their foolish neck on the line. If a MSNZ event is run and anyone is concerned about such things as the safety of their car the CoC should be spoken to.

The cars that were pulled up still went out on the track with the faults still apparent and no recheck was done to make sure they had actually been sorted. (I asked a couple of questions around this because I'm that sort of girl ) The entry form everyone signs has a 'declaration of conformance with Schedule A' with "I acknowledge that where any breach o the safety Schedule is found during a Scrutineering Audit I will be subject to penalties under the National Sporting Code and my signature below indicates my acceptance of this undertaking' ... cool ay! Yes I swallowed an entry form and rule book
Ooo the penalties are exciting ... have a look Appendix One Schedule P in the manual... cripes! costs you money.... anyway I'm done... just thought I'd be 'that' person for a change.

When I hear about it yes.

I don't hear that much about private track hire stuff, but when I do, I follow up anything that was dangerous.

I've followed up quite a few "interesting" happenings over the years.

In this particular instance, as I've known Julian for quite a few years, and we have a lot of mutual respect, I simply rung him up, and abused him down the phone Well, ok, actually we did a far more positive thing, and sat down and talked about what stuff we clubs and the sport should be doing to make things easier, better, and more fun, but without killing people.
