so you're wanting to fit a charger originally fitted to a 2ltr, to a 2.8ltr. obviously need to spin it faster to acheive same boost pressure (bigger crank pulley than a 1ggze one).
charger would sit in place of aircon compressor if you have one on the 5mge.
an intercooler definately recommended as SC produce heat, but not a massive one or you'll get lag. 2" piping will be fine or whichever size the SC has on the inlet/outlet pipes. a simple 1ggte intercooler would be a cheap option.
the toyota roots charger also requires an ABV (air bypass valve) fitted which recirculates the air thru the charger. this works in the same way as a wastegate on a turbo. it joins between the intake and outlet pipes and controlled via intake plenum vacuum. without it, the air has nowhere to go once throttle is shut and puts heaps of load on the system. you could use a bov but will be noisey and may also fluctuate at idle.. psssh psssh psssh. tweak the ABV to close earlier for a better response if needed.

factory systems also use the ecu to control the electromagnetic clutch using various sensors like intake vacuum and a delay for between gear shifts. you could run the sc on all the time (12+ from ignition to clutch wire or dowel / shim the clutch solid) or have an on/off switch on your dash to turn it on etc. a better way is a pressure switch and relay to automatically engage it (with a delay also for gearshifts). at full vacuum it turns off like at idle and no accelleration, but turns on as soon as throttle pressed.

As Mark, says, you'll be trying to drive the supercharger harder to get the same "effective boost". From a 1G to a 5m is 40%, and that's a lot to ask. You could try spinning it faster but the faster it spins and tries to build boost, you are introducing more heat and it loses efficiency. Also most superchargers have a maximum rpm limit and there is a point in the rpms where the supercharger will become inefficient.

If I was going to do this (I have considered it), I would look at the superchargers fitted to the Holden V6. I know the V6 is a 3.8 litre, but when I rang CAPA in Australia, they said the Holden unit was at it's limits on the 3.8. It could work well on the 5M. And then you have to consider an ecu.

Can you get two of them???
I'm not trying to put you off. Ask wreckers - oops, auto dis-mantlers - and other professionals in the industry, even turbo suppliers.
