insurance question

Hi all say someone was to put some coil overs in the rear of there car and not have them listed or certified and there car got stolen, would the insurance company still pay out? what about for a crash that was your fault?

If you have something in your car that is suppose to be certified but it's not then insurance will not pay.

I haven't heard of many people being denied claims because of unlisted mods, the majority I know have been paid out (Ignoring the value of the mods) and blacklisted from further coverage.

If it was stolen then there's no evidence as such, you'd only run into strife if it was recovered.

or if it was found say you didnt put them on! :D

whats the reasoning behind coil overs needing to be cert'd.
Like provided its a wof-able install why does it still need to be cert'd?

yeh fair enough if you crashed but say your car got stolen and you had wheel spacers that weren't certed they could still not pay out if it was recovered? seems a bit bs to me

Still even if you did crash you could change them easily enough if it was only in the back

insurance is a business, the less the pay out the more $$ they make. You make it easy for them to decline your claim as you car had uncerted parts on it, and you're being your own worst enemy IMO

either cert it (if this is an actual situation)

or have no insurance :lol:

Because a wof won't "test" them at every level they can be adjusted too, whereas a certifier will "test" them at a set level, and then state that level on the cert plate. If you're not within the tolerances of that range, you may as well have not bothered getting a cert.

There was talk a while back about being able to get a range of settings certed, but theres a good chance that it was just talk and even if it wasn't, changing anything that involves the ltsa takes a while.

actully insurance companies will pay out more than some of you are suggesting...
ie they cannot refuse to payout on the basis of your car not having a WOF/REG unless they can prove that an issue with the WOF caused the accident. that has been tested in court, and the insurance company had to pay out.

if you have a non certed item on your car, and its stolen, they still have to pay out, they will not however have to pay any extra for a part you havnt told them about.

yeh that sounds a bit better cheers rev, just a toss up weather i should chuck some on or not as i got them for free seems to be more hassle than what its worth tho.

This happened to a friend, he had his car stolen, it had mods that weren't listed and they basicly told him to get f**ked. Eventually he got a bit out of them, no where near the actual value of the car though. Moral is, declare it otherwise you may as well not have insurance.

I think the moral is declare it or you wont have insurance, its the same as folk that think ( just beacuse a company agrees ) to being a named driver only on a car you drive 100% of the time under your folks insurance that your coverd.

Lose it, claim and cry.. But its the same with whats said above.. If you dont declare EVERYTHING and get it on paper signed from them you aint got shit legs to stand on..

They say no and you do what? go to there boss?

be realistic tho, really worth it.. I think deep down people move on and accept been declined beacuse they know they were trying to pull a swifty..

In a heart beat id go to the council if i honestly was done wrong buy but not if i said its a stock car and then wanted car price and 5 grands worth of stuff inside that i never declared..
