What to do with a Mazda MS8

Postby ollieboy » Sun Nov 11, 2007 11:48 pm

I've been given a Mazda MS8 with a buggered gearbox-engine is all mint though. Anyone know what the best thing to do with this would be? Would parting it out be best or are gearboxes cheap to get?

It's got the 2L V6 engine in and it goes ok- not hugely fast but its a nice car aye.

Cheers guys.

They're rubbish no matter which way you look at them. Pick any random MS8, chances are it's either had a new gearbox or had it repaired, or its' blown. Motors aren't much better. The whole car is a dime a dozen.. but if you've got time and space and money to burn, then fix it.. but don't say I didn't warn you. :)

Depends, the 2l isn't but the 2.5l KL-ZE is a nifty unit... a few years ago there was a Eunos 500 doing mid/high 13s regularly at Meremere running a KL-ZE.

MS8s suck ass.

My mrs had one. Typical gearbox $&#$%. 4 wheel steer made the thing drive like ass too.

nice car, but yeah gearbox....
i got rid of mine before it died. again

but the motors are good, excpet for one thing!
leaking all the oil out the oil pressure sender! they have been known to leak all the oil out there untill it goes bang! 8O

4ws is fine, like any 4ws car..... if you try and get sideways it feels really weird!

if you can pick up a box cheap.... it could be worth fixing to flick off for a few bucks.

or manual conversion? wont be all that easy... but would be a hoot!

Yeah it was, had a few Mazda speed goodies. A hell of a sleeper, the guy who used race it all the time sold it to a chick up that way then it disappeared from my radar. People in the states hiff those motors into Probes and the such and go for 13s.
