Clutch Change in my ee80 (2e engine 5spd)

Postby xsspeed » Thu Nov 15, 2007 5:05 pm

Hey, just a few questions

I need some lithium grease with molybdenum disulphide, where should i get it from, dont need a huge tub.

Also has anyone used a clutch alignment tool, should i bother getting one, if not, what should i use? (besides an old input shaft)

Cheers

What exactly do you need the grease for?

As for aligning the clucth, just feel around the edges and have a look down the middle to see if its straight.

this is my 1st time doing the clutch myself :o , just going by a haynes manual, says i need grease.

'lubricate the gbox input shaft splines, release bearing guide sleeve, inside of release bearing ... etc... with lithium based greased with molybdenum disulphide"

for the alignment tool, you can use a piece of dowel or an extension from a socket set with electrical tape wrapped around it for a snug fit. don't touch the clutch plate with greasy fingers

Just find some CV grease or similar, should be sweet. As for lining the clutch up, you should be able to feel around the edge to see if it lines up properly.

so i got some bp energrease, ls-ep 2, from Ripco. 8 bucks so cant complain, says its multi-purpose. there was valvoline that had said it had that molybdenum disulfide in it, but was in a massive tin.

this bp stuff looks like the right sort of thing
