iv just never understood the whole K series thing, for the ammount of money that needs to be spent making them go ok its not worth it IMO,

4age $500, headers+exhaust $600, air filter & inlet pipe $70, wiring mounts ect $500-1000. The look an the owner of the $10000 4k when you smoke him every single time, Priceless.

and if there is a K series that can smoke 4AGEs how long will it last? we all no a lightly modded 4age lasts forever same for a standard K series but a K series so highly strung so as to keep up with a 4AGE, i higily doubt it would last too long and then if it did the whole cost issue comes up again

STANDARD 4AGE FTW!

Unless it is a race/rally car that has to use a 1300 and/or K series because of the rules. Then your standard 4AGE goes out the window.

im gonna say a standard f20c for you project although they are expensive (10k for engine and box computer etc) it will be as reliable as hell and still give you 250 horse all day long.

on a side note. i remember seeing an interview with the guy who owns veilside in japan. they were asking him why he doesnt stroke his rb26 engines to 2.7-2.8 litres like everyone else. he said he would rather have it rev out to 10,000 rpm!! awesoma powa!!

Bring it out to ruapuna see how you get on,the standard bore 4k i refer to can beat a blacktop that has had $7000 spent on it the cost of the 4k well and truly under $2000.

are you saying this $1250 4k has more power than the $7k 4age? or that the car it is in is better setup, and / or has a better driver which means it makes up for its lower power through the corners?

cause that doesnt really have much to do with what engine its got does it :D

Blown5K....

If you want any of us to believe you when you imply that a low budget 4K is better than a worked 4AGE, you're gonna have to show some proof.
Track times dont really tell much, there are a million variables there.
With any given car, and any given amount of $$$ spent on the motor, it's gonna be quicker with a 4AGE setup than a K series.
Show us the dynos if you want to convert us non believers. ;)

And to the dude who said 12,000rpm 4K? ....

He isnt saying they can rev to 12,000rpm, but he does happen to have a fairly quick one. Or 2.

Although i own a dyno i dont tend to use it very often and as far as i`m concerned that doesnt always tell the story now does it,if we come out of the turn onto the straight at the same time side by side whoever wins the drag to the end of the straight wins in my book as for this ftw crap i`m too old for abbreviations i prefer old sayings like "the bullshit stops when the flag drops"next season i`ll more than likely have my old 3k out there again doing battle with toyspeed members 4ages at the club race days should be fun so get your stock or modified 4ages out of the mothballs and come and race me we can always use more in the class bracket racing(laments the days of 40+ 0-1600cc cars at ruapuna club days).
My friends standard bore 4k has done a 14.3 1/4 (my 3k is faster but i`ve not done a recent 1/4 mile time).
Modifed blacktop 14.08.

2age thats just funny.
