SARD Fuel Pressure Regulator

Just wondering if anyone know's the difference in SPEC between a normal and the RJ spec SARD FPR.
Also how can you tell the difference between a real deal SARD FPR against a chinese knock-off.I'm just interested in some things to look for when I buy one.

Basically I want to bin my Malpassi rising rate regulator and go back to the SARD item which is a 1to1.I have also bought a Apexi SAFC 2 I just want to get my fuel dialled precisely.Any thoughts or feed-back with those who have used any one of these items would be appreciated or any problems to look out for.

get an aeromotive one, very reputable brand, and not that expensive.

To be honest I have heard a few bad things about Suprastore.com and its owner Mark Tozer over the years so I'd rather not go there.While Aeromotive maybe a reputable brand I think I might stick with SARD they may cost a little more but I'm not to worried about that as long as I get a real deal SARD FPR I think I'll be sweet.

you can tell the difference between a real sard and a fake one because a real sard comes in a blue sard box, with instructions in japanese with sard written all over them, and the regulator has a sard sticker on it, where the fake one will say something dumb like "d1 spec mega ultra adjustable fuel pressure regulator" on it.

buying from a reputable dealer helps, too. i bought mine from advanced automotive (yes, i know, they have a tendancy to charge "a little" extra) because they are about 5 buildings down from my work, it ended up being about $10 more than the ones on trademe, i bought the little gauge to go along with it, otherwise setting it up would be basically impossible.

Sard ones also don't come with a gauge like many of the cheaper ones do.

Your supposed to hook a gauge up set the pressure then take the gauge off for a cleaner look.

Don't know the difference between reg Sard an Sard type RJ.
Would like to know because I have an RJ want to know!

Not sure if the RJ you refer to is the race one or not, but could be.

Measure your RJ one and compare to the below dimensions.

SARD FRP Sport - Regulator size 50mm x 96mm. Ideal for most vehicles up to ~ 450ps.

SARD FRP Race - Regulator size 66mm x 92mm. For high power applications over 500ps.????

What ratio is your Malpassi? Won't it be a 1:1 ratio as well? Or did you buy one with a higher ratio like 4:1 or 8:1?

yea its the guage which makes genuine ones more expensive
cheap ones have cruddy guages

best way to get a genuine sard, buy from a proper shop!

type RJ is for higher flow rates (more hp). standard is good for around 400HP.

I think the Malpassi rising rate regulator was 1.something to 1 I was a little unsure on that to be honest but I know its not 1 to 1.

Why not use your Malpassi ans the SAFC to fine tune the fuel? Malpassi is a good brand and you're not running the risk of buying a dodgey fake Sard jobbie.

The S-AFC doesn't really adjust fuel, it just tricks the ECU into thinking the engines under less or more load than it really is under. The catch with that is where you lean it out, its potentially also adding timing - and vice versa when you richen it. Its quite a rough way of doing things...

The way i see it is the S-AFC is more a supplement for helping run larger injectors, along with any ballast packs etc. Shouldn't really be used as a tool for tuning a largely stock fuel system.

Well I see the SAFC as being a piggy back that can be used for fine tuning of a lightly modified car. Eg, doing the exhaust and intake and then fine tuning it to suit those mods.

If it's major mods, then I'd go for a full programmable ECU.

Thats what I have a lightly tuned car basically exhaust filter boost controller FMIC I just want it for fine tuning purpose's as already mentioned.I suppose I still could use the Malpassi FPR.But I have been told SARD FPR's are a very good product.I just want the fuel which is a little rich in the mid-range to be spot on and hence why I want to use the Apexi SAFC 2 to help with this.

Well I'd say the SAFC will be perfect for it then. It's only small adjustments you'll be wanting, so as long as it's being checked for knock, it'll be sweet. I've heard of them wreaking havoc on the timing when big adjustments are done, but that wont be what you're doing.
