WTF? You asked:

i was wondering what would be better (your opinions) on which one i should keep

As far as I'm concerned I did read the post properly. If you don't want opinions don't ask for them?! I'd choose a ST165 over a ST185 any day (unless it happened to be an ST185RC...). If going to the effort of sorting an engine I'd pass on a ST185 engine and jump straight to a ST205 one. In fact that is exactly what I had planned for my ST165 when I ended up buying my ST205.

and st165s handle like sh*t and dont stop from factory

I'll concur on the brakes but I don't agree on the handling. Sure the steering is connected to the wheels by rubber bands compared to a ST205 but that's typical 80's Japanese power steering. Mine had urethane bushings and Bilstein shocks, handling was bloody fantastic, very neutral with a hint of oversteer when pushed hard. It is a lot easier to get good shocks now than when I did mine, parts from JP are available and the exchange rate is bloody great at the moment.

The widebody brakes from the widebody shell will bolt straight onto the 165. Helps address the braking.

165's are awesome
i dream of owning/restoring one, one day.
hard to come across a nice one for sale, or even a near nice one for a reasonable price

i mean go for the 185 sell the 165 to me....

if you havent got alot of money then why consider another " project "

concentrate on one , and have a reliable runner as a second ..

185 widebodys come up regularly , 165's in decent shape do not ..

165 is lighter but weaker in drivetrain

185 is stronger and more solid, and a little stronger in drivetrain

If you have a Gt4 , what will you use it for - trundling and the odd hills fun or racing on tracks..

id also go 165 shell/205 drivetrain as you get the best of both worlds for a fun project car , or a 205 with everything already installed and reliably strong from the factory ..

having already built a tough as nails 185 that cost a crapload to make, and a soon to be tougher than nails 205 , i know what these " projects " can add up to quickly
