Toyota Cavalier - any thoughts?

Postby crazed_silvertop » Thu Nov 29, 2007 8:48 am

Ok, I know they aren't the nicest things in the world to look at... but I've found one that doesnt seem so bad.

Does anyone know how they are on fuel? Any defects to look out for?

Any info on them at all?

Sorry man, but you really should have searched a bit more methinks!

These things are apparently sh*tters- made by Chevrolet in the US (Nope, not even a Toyota au), they have electrical problems, transmission problems and a crappy engine. Parts are hideously expensive, and they drive like crap.

Avoid like the plague. Curren or Celica are much better bets.

Just my 2c worth. :P

Probably the worst car on NZ roads. I'd own a Rover before a Cavalier!

Any particular reason why Toyota allowed chev to rebadge them. Makes Toyota look bad to people that arn't aware

in order for toyota to import/sell cars in the USA
US law required something in exchange for amercian auto workers.
the result is the cavalemon.
they were also badged as chevs in japan.
a US car is a BIG status symbol in japan.

There are Chevy badged ones over here too. One down here with Chev badges on the boot and Toyota on the steering wheels and the wheels.

Lotus Carltons and Holden Commodores (Toyota Lexcen)are totally different Cars.Lotus Carlton is based on the Opel/Vauxhall Carlton.Holden used the body and altered everything(including the body) big time and put a yankee engine it.
