Well I'm up for a new set of rubber, so thought I'd be nosey and see what everyone else is using these days. Especially interested in the guys who drive whales and run rims wider than 8"

Also approx price paid would be handy.

Man I drive on 9.5' Rears with a 285/40/17 Goodyear GSD3 F1s,Fronts are 8.5 with a 255/40/17 with the same tyre as the rear.Also I drive a Toyota Supra and will be up in Gisborne for 2 weeks over Xmas and New Years so you come and have a closer look if you like.Pricing well for the rears I payed $325 each and about $280 each for the fronts and this is very cheap for this brand and these sized tyres.

I've noticed alot cheaper prices for goodyears since they went chinese made.
mag and turbo was advertising 205/40/17 for around $130 fitted iirc.
Which seems dirt cheap in comparison to the $ i had been quoted in the past.

have run direzza's on my mk3, 8's and 9's with 235 and 265's respectivly. were a good tyre, but just left something to be desired. have got dads 18*9.5's on the back atm with 265 eagle F1's and they seem to be doing quite well, bout the same in the dry as the direzza's but awesome in the wet.

we are just starting to try some toyo's atm, have some 225's on the front of our aristo on 8" rim, seem to be quite good so far, lot less road noise compared to the F1's and direzzas, which is a plus, but grip still seems to be pretty good. will find out the type of toyo later when i get up...

Ventus K102's 185's on 14" were $135 each

Great little tyres, good grip and dont fade away when you pass the limit of grip They handle great in the wet too.

I think they might be more suited to cornering rather than straight line grip

I am running 205/60/15's direzza's on my caldina gtt. Got all 4 corners for $600, so $150 a tyre. It's made in japan too, so not the cheap knock off's.

Anyone tried out the Falken 432? It's meant to be better than the GS-D3 and less noisy than the 431 was. I'm pricing up a pair for me car atm (along with exhaust that's dead too) so if anyone has some feedback on these...

im running Dunlop DZ101 in size 235/40/R18 on an 8.5" wide rim.. Cost me $150 per tyre (thank the goodness for hookups) coz it was going to be a $300 per tyre retail.

235 means the tyre slightly stretched on that size rim too, but cant put anything wider on it or it rubs like crazy

on a sidenote i'm quite impressed by the set of Toyo T1-r's i have on my trueno. especially in Price and wet & dry weather grip. havent had them long enough to test their durability though

^^ as above, using the toyos on my supra, seem to be pretty good. Little bit iffy in the wet though, not as good as the gsd3s in my opinion.

all retail prices from Tonys. No hookups for me

Going for gsd3s again although they are cheaper than last time i swear so because they may be made in China they better perform just as good. I like to pay good money for good tyres, so they better be just as good

And yeah, going on the UZZ30 Soarer, probably don't have quite the same traction problems you have so not looking to go quite that wide, but I might take you up on that offer.

Was going to have a shot at the new Potenza's but can't get the sizes I want til next March/April, so having to have a rethink

I like to pay shyte money for good tyres Tony's are usually pretty bloody negotiable too....

Look into Bridgestone Adrenaline RE001's as well. Stick like the proverbial sticky thing. That's sticky. Very very impressed with them, and they're my first departure from my usual Dunlop fixation

I just go to www.tonystyreservice.co.nz do a price enquiery and they give ya good pricing. Then you print it up, along with the coupon page and go to ya local store and get the cheaper prices / specials. Don't forget ya $10 off voucher too

my $10 got me $20 off due to the dude not being able to subtract properly (only just noticed this now tho )

hmm , just checked my gsd3's on the aristo and van, the 245's are made in the US, and the 225's are made in australia

the toyo's are proxis t1-R's. seem to be ok so far...

Try pricing up a set of German made GSD3 in 245/35/R18 and 275/35/R18.

Costs me just under half a grand per corner for new ones!

Nah I'm from there, R&V is for all the tourists I'm coming back to recharge the batteries and catch up with family.I'll be easy to find black Supra TRD body parts 2JZGTE's the plate Volk TE37s I'll be easy to spot.

Also my Goodyears,The 285's were made in the U.S and the 255's were made in Germany.I believe seriously for the money and these sizes the Goodyears are pretty tough to beat.They are absolutely awesome in the wet.I've done sub 1.25 in the wet with the GSD3 F1's at Manfeild thats why I rate them so highly.
