"A" Frame information

hey all,

im looking al building an A Frame for the track car, but before i start im wondering if anyone knows the legalities of them, weather ther have to be certified wof'd, minimum sizes/thickness of steel etc etc.

had a look in the LTSA site but couldne find much, but in sawing that my searchink skills are up to fcuk all

ah, thats a bit ah not cool, hmm, maybe ill have to build a trailer then, dammit .

out if curiousity (spelling) why is that?? i mean itsnot actually doing anything, its being towed, not using any brakes, i would run siginal lights off the towing car so thats not a problem, its kinda just there really not doing anything....

I used to have an A frame for my old track car. Didn't have a WOF, the frame was built by a pro welder though. And obviosly my track car didn't have a wof but back then the cops were aware but turned a blind eye to the whole thing

Some 20 years ago our old rally team used an A-Frame to tow the Esky around, the Esky was WOF'd and Reg'd of course.
The A-Frame itself I don't believe needs to be certified, any more than a tow rope would be - but if it were proven to be a contributor to an accident, you'd be in the poo...

If it has contact with the road, it needs to be 'safe', that seems like the best way to interpret it to me; if you have a car that is not intended to be wof'd or reg'd you're going to need a trailer, nuff said.

(If your track car is going to be just a track car, and never used on the road - then a trailer will save you money in the long term in wof/reg costs and possibly be more helpful for other random trailer purposes eh?)

haha sweet. yeah the car is De Reg so wont be going back on the road un fortunately . ill have to look into trailer stuff then
