why not use a remote transfer like the Suzuki 4WDs?
would enable any gearbox to be used as well as any location for the front driveshaft

instead of the transfer box being part of the tailhousing (like Toyota Hilux,Liteace 4WD etc), the Suzuki (and others i guess) use a RWD box with a very short shaft to the transfer box, the shafts for the front and rear diff then comes out of this.

Alternatively, the 4WD lite/townace vans have the front driveshaft down the passenger side, and accept and W55+ bellhousing.

hmm so if you could find a suitable remote transfer case
you could run a normal 5 speed box, with a short coupling to the transfer, some custom shafts to the diffs and done!

i think you need to look into that!

looking at the picture, there wouldn't be enough room. i do think that the 4wd liteace set-up wuold be worth looking in to.

Soooo, whats the problem???

Just buy a non-compliant GTR, take the running gear and sell the rest off. selling a GTR in parts will prob end up covering the cost of the car and part of the work too. (have u seen how much people will pay for a gtr engine and lights etc!)
