Always loved the JZA80 supras from day 1 and people have proven those 2JZ motors have huge potential while still remaining reliable. I've got a mate with a series 7 rx7 and a guy at work that has one but honestly don't see why people think they are so great. I feel the supra is a real sports car with top build quality thats also not a ticking bomb so yeah go supra definatly. My 2C :P

2JZ gets my vote.

Ive owned a few rotarys in the past, used to go quite well with only myself in the car but wouldnt pull the skin off a rich pudding once a few mates jumped in. Wasnt much torque there, but this was a non turbo 13b tallport with 12a nikki and extractors, nothing like some of the rotarys out there today!.

Also had a freshly built 13b tallport let go just idling in my carport .

sold the thing after that...

Both cars can look great when you spend time and money on them and do it right. You've gotta test drive both cars - more than once (they're both quite different beasts), then buy the one you like the most.

Gotta admit the widebody supra in black looks mighty fine though:

thanks to everyone for there input. i think when u really like rotarys and are a previous owner of one you cant give them up unless your forced to or have a really bad experience with one. i really like supra's and the fact they are a cruising car with plenty of power. look nice, perform well and are reliable.

in relation to a few things people have said, loading the car up with mates.. i donit see the point of 4 seats in the rx7 i consider it a two seater so 70-80kg extra isn't going to effect it remembering they are 13b TT. its great to see all you toyota heads giving a mazda the heads up. revvy how can you say it looks ugly. IMO i think its looks f**king hot and think if i go with the 7 any girl in my life will get neglected a little.

so far im sticking to the 7. but i will take some of your advise and take a few different supras and if i can find any RX7's for test drives. i was going to take the one at midway for a drive but the car sale man was being a dick so just walked out.. told me it was so expensive because there arn't many in dunedin. 18k for a 1992 rx7 with a second hand engine with no history of it sounds dodgy to me. so didn't even take out the ward after a quick chat. IMO i think car sales men dont take young people serious when they are looking at an expensive sports car. in the end its them that loses out for being cocky and missing out on a 20k sale or what eva the price is.

Agreed about car sales.

Young people get put in the to-hard-to-do bin with yards. I went through 7 yards looking at Foresters and WRXs only two let me test drive, and one took it seriously when I said I wanted to buy it.

Other one thought I was a dreamer. So they lost money.

Wouldn't that mess up the center of gravity, suspension set up and make it handle weird?

Also, I'd go RX7 over supra, especially if they're gona be stock.

ive heard about that one never seen pics thou,
awesome got any more info about it?

i tried doing a 1uzfe conversion into my batty a few years ago, after having it mounted i gave up,
had to remount steering rack, did a bit of research and decided changing the steering geometry was worth the hassle and dry sump for ground clearnce was going to cost way to much

i have also seen some pics of a S7 batty with a supra engine in it. from what the guy was saying it sounded like a real pain in the ass.

http://2jzswap.com/index.php these guys do a kit to swap a 2/1jzgte into your FD3S.. personally if i blew my engine in a rx7 i would have it rebuilt and ported. IMO its just wrong to put a piston engine into any FD or rotary body.

that was very funny, nice joke man. i disslike skylines, everyone has them and all the chumps do to. there are cars only real petrol heads will ever own and a skyline isn't one and a GTR isn't any bertter in any way over a RX7.

lol come on they love the rx7 as well, its just that much nicer than the supra to some. everyone to there own. im shore ya mrs would jump in the back

and as stated at start im not looking at spending huge amounts on the car. there is no need with a batman. they are all kept hidden away in guarages and rearly come out so when u notice one you actely notice em. i'v pretty much made up my mind. any last minute convincing?
