Thats a 1000hp Jun Supra ... he's said repeatedly he doesn't want to spend money on big horse power, and isn't taking it to tracks; thus, it is completely irrelevant to the debate.

Personally, I would buy the 7, and spend as much cash as I could on getting it rebuilt and running perfectly, then blow the rest of the budget on polishing it up and making it look how I want. Batmobiles are mint.

Im kinda thinking the same way...i cant decide on on MK3 (facelift) supra, black, manual, 1JZgte in it. Or a S5 RX7, manual, with a 1uz-fe in it (personaly not into rotor engines so the Toyota V8 is perfect). Both about the same price as each other, just dont know which is better?

The Mark 3 supra. Its a much nicer shape than the S5 RX 7 plus its a really rarity to see some one doing up a mark 3 supra nicely compared to the amount of S5 RX 7s around.

I'd love to have a mark 3 supra sack it and drop a 2JZ into it.

I'm not really a big fan of the engine conversion into other cars bit as people make it sound good on paper but unless your mechanically minded and can do alot of work yourself the costs generally will sky-rocket.Especially putting a 2JZ in another car people normally want to mount them back to get better weight distribution and again its a mission in its self cutting the firewall.Afriend of mine is putting a 2JZ into a AE 85 and there is a sh*t-load of work involved there.

pretty sure its alot less than 1000, cant be arsed watching the video again, but somewhere in the region of 650hp is more accurate.

besides, its your car, take both for a test drive and go from there.

have you asked this question on a mazda forum??[/quote]

having a wife that works in a car sales(albeit as the finance chick), I tend to agree with what you've said, but try to look at it from their perspective, they have a lot of tire kickers in that just want to "take the WRX/whatever out for a spin" and it comes back with with an empty tank and the distinct sound of massive amounts of heat trying to escape from the just thrashed engine, and they say "nah, don't like it aye, can I take the Forrester out?"

Bloody joy riders ruin it for the serious people.

Convinces me that a car with lots of money thrown at it and built by JUN can do a smokey drift around a corner. I almost like their EVOs drift more:

My personal choice is definitely the RX7, I LOOOOVE the 2JZGTE and reckon the Supra is overall a very formidible beast and both cars are right up there. If you are 6ft or over, the Supra is likely to start taking the advantage quickly...

RX7, Looks a lot nicer than the supras IMO, The only one i have been in was a 300kw monster that scared the bejesus out of me and had me grinning like a fat man at a donut convention. FnF ruined supras for me lol

Have you considered other cars, eg Subaru type R, Handles just like a RWD, 2 door, looks good etc.

the fact that its 1000hp and stupidly modified is kinda irrelevant IMO. i put it up because i think it shows that SUPRAS are just bloody awesome! 8)

you can't compare a new rx7 to an old v8, it's just completely different (even if they were both rotary or piston)

Well actually being a bit of stickler its not 1000 HP it is actually 918 PS in its final configuration at 1.9 bar boost and the torque is 1070 odd NM.When it did the big drift that was in 2000 in its 1st configuration it was only 750 PS.But the JUN car still runs Factory air con and stereo.

Get a batty

All the cool kids are doing it

But on a serious note has anyone else noticed the recent influx in very rough looking series 5 or 6 rx7's? They are quickly loosing face as a serious performance car and turning into the next wrx/evo/vr4 etc.

Garanted I don't like common cars so thats what I'm referring to but if you are going to go down the 7 route, make sure you look at the cars history in great detail.

PLUS, I haven't read all the pages and to me comparing a late model rx7 with a jza80 isn't a fair comparison.

JZA80 - R33 GTR - GTO - 300ZX etc (all big capacity, semi-luxo "sports" barges and obviously the liner and soops are ahead of the pack)

Where as,

RX7 S5,6 - RX8 - S15 - S2000 - DC2 (plus blah sti/evo/etc) (these are a more light weight more sports orientated car)

Just my perception anyway.

i was considering a s2000 or 200sx or 180. but they are to common and not really my thing. to the comment on the subaru.. ewwww i would never buy one. i have drove a couple and went well but not me again. 300zx, to big and bolky looking and IMO ugly. GTO, blaarrrrrr yuk. skyline, no way would i want to be just like another boy racer on the street and far to common.

i see the rx7 the head turner i'm looking for, standard because i think the factory kit it sexy and its got great lines. the 99 spec kit is the one i'm talking about. if you look after your car well it wont deface like peoples cars that just take em out, thrash them and park it out the front of there house or what ever. they are called boy racers IMO. im not one i consider myself a car enthusiest (i cant spell)

i have a few mates with v8's that have been trying to convince me to get one but they are v8's. they are not a sports car, which i want. totaly diffrent sort of car. are very nice though.

imo rx7 series 6 onwards are the car that keep their value the most for a new car so i think it's a good car to buy and when you sell you shouldn't loose too much..
