I want a new Toyota project, any ideas welcome!

Postby mikeBrotherd » Fri Jan 18, 2008 11:03 am

Im wanting to start a new project, preferably something not too big (Crown sized) or somthing too small (Starlet sized). Must be manual or at least be able to convert to manual, plenty of parts avail, RWD would be a bonus.

Willing to trade my AE85 converted to and AE86,
Running gear: 4age b-top, t50, two piece d-shaft, ae85 rear, comes with ae86 rear
Body: AE85 Notch Trueno
Cond: Has Reg, needs WOF but will need at least a new passengers guard to pass (one on TM at the mo) otherwise will pass WOF fine (good front AND rear tyres)
Misc: HD frnt swaybar, nolathane bushes everywhere bar swaybars, frnt & rear strut braces, KYB shocks all round (new), power steering

Some not so good quality videos:
Dorifto 1
Slide 2
Hangin-it 3

So if anyone has a couple of ideas or even offers, im listning!

PM'd about guard.

A Hayabusa is a motorbike engine which makes 170hp+ from a 1000cc and sounds AWESOME 8) People turbocharge them and make 500hp.

sp = not sure of spelling.
Cost = lots :lol:

Its getting quite common to have motor bike engines in light weight bodyshelled race cars. eg, kp starlet, lotus 7's, etc. I've even seen a mini with a IRS rear and a hayabusa motor!

Have to have an electric motor for reverse though.

That trademe starlet looks sweet, but the guy doesn't give any info on power output or anything. Also looks to be using the early SOHC head.

Speaking of a ke35 SR coupe, a friend of mine wants to sell his.
It's a rolling body sanded back. Has pretty much doubled up on everything. ie. 2 diffs, 4 doors. 2 dashboards etc etc.

And yeah, I'd say throw a 1uz in it. It'll be a leathel little weapon. (not too big, not too small)

3SGTE Toyota Picnic FWD drag slag. 8)

Or a Will Vi with the rear seats removed with a mid mounted N/S 3RZ running through a transaxle.

Or... a 1KZ-TE TT130 Corona liftback slammed on 15xHEAPS widened steelies.

Also, the person who fitted those tragic 17's to that poor RA28 needs to be severely disciplined.

The hayabusa sounds like an awesome little beast, but cant see any of thses motors on TradeMe at the moment.

As for the starlet, i believe its running the 3E-TE, rated @ 113hp & 127ft-ldf standard. Surly would be making more then that now?? At any rate iv asked him about it and details.

I could be interested, but im not sure about the V8 thing, i like V8's in big cars and lots of seating, but would be cool to throw a SR20det or something like that in it??

As for budget, well that depends what the car i get and how far i want to go with it, also how much i get when i sell me AE85

Work in progress, work in progress  I'm half way through the Auto to manual thing but got BADLY ripped of from some dude who never sent me parts :( (GR Harvey if it rings any bells) So now on the lookout for pedals (some on TM at the mo), driveshaft & clutch plate to suit W5x

the Hayabusa motor is 1300cc not 1000 there are a few bikes on there in the 15-20k range.

IIRC they are the fastest production bike in the world?

there are a few hayabusa conversions on you tube

The V8 was a sugestion of course. That's what I would do if I bought it. hehe
But a SR20DET sounds just as good too!!!
