I think it was pretty $&#$%' crap on TV3s behalf not to have live coverage of either race. There's no real excuse for that, especially with the second race. They wasted hours showing buildup crap while the second race was on.

Yeah I agree I thought the coverage was shite I was flicking and watched the TRS highlights of the NZGP I even preferred the TRS racing to the A1,for me the TRS drivers are more well matched where as the A1 I thought there's a few guys there out of there depth.

Did they have the broadcasting rights to be able to show live coverage??

they didnt show it live?!
they said at the track they would! i cant beleive they didnt show it live....

the A1 races were a lot moe entertaining than the TRS, i love the TRS but the A1s were something else... better than the F1 i went to a coupla years back, but then again at Taupo you can actually see more.. but in A1 theres more passing in one race than just about a whole season of F1....

yes there are some drivers that are not up with the rest, but then theres some very very good drivers that just couldnt get a handle on the track... Tomas Enge and Yoong being two...

at the end of the day, i really do recommend ppl going next year, it is an awesome spectacle, far better in person than on TV!

I was under the impression that one of the conditions of A1 is that its free-to-air where its held. It was available on the internet live too.

surely they could get the broadcast sorted so there is less crap at the start and they don't get caught in a 'timed-race' scenario due to safety car deployment. i'm sure if they had 5-10 minutes of the scheduled time slot left, they would manage to fit it with post-race activities.

other than that, at least the coverage was close to live.
unsure why the media bagged Reid for dropping places at the start of the Feature Race?? had he not backed off, he would have been one of the many who collided at Turn 1
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

I think maybe because in his post race interviews he said he messed up the clutch.

But yeah it worked to his advantage, when it happened i did wonder if it was a preplanned move

Oh & to me Yoong seems to of lost the plot completly, what is it 3 rather large crashes in 3 rounds?

thats a good pic, gives you an idea of the forces they go through
and thats not even one of the faster parts of the track!

yeah johnny muffed the start, but he fought back brilliantly and the second stop was awesome.
i was quite proud of being part of the crowd that was cheering, every time he came around after a good lap he got a whole heap of applause, and a standing ovation on the slow down lap. the crowd also went nuts when he got the sprint poll too
was also cool how all the ppl in that stands applauded the whole field.

my highlight though was early friday morning, sitting in the stands waiting for the next session to start when 3 ppl walk down the straight and past us, one was johnny, so me being the introvert i am yelled "HEY JOHNNY!!" as loud as i could and the bunch of us waved, got ourselves a big grin and a wave back.
i like to think my support helped him get sprint poll :P

I thought the start sequence caught a lot of drivers with their pants down.
The red lights were only on for about 1sec before going out. commentary was '5 sec board goes down.and.the.lights.are.out'

One of my favourite parts of the weekend....

'2 minute board comes out for the feature race... A1GP cars all start up and start revving'..

'Crowd and Frankie stevens finish the NZ national anthem'

'Helen clark gets on the loud speaker and says "Start your engines" '

'Entire crowd laughs at Helen Clark'
