Mr Vengence, if you are not prepared to take on board infomation that has been repeated many times in this thread, then a smart-ar5e reply may, and i stress MAY, make you do some homework. you have started a thread, and tried to tell a heap of people that are quite experienced MSNZ competitors that we are wrong and that you have cunning ways around rules.

re-read my first post on P.2., especially the last line.

just quote where i said anyone was wrong? sorry i have a bad memory and cant remember doing that.

i have however said i thought there were ways of doing it that people weren't aware of. i never said i was right or that anyone was wrong.
yea sure i thought i had an idea that would work. It turns out it wont.

some people in this thread have been helpful some have not.

i was wrong it wont work. does it really need to go further. i mean christ not like im going on and on saying you guys are wrong and im right. i'm not being rude to you.


i was merely on an information gathering mission. i have not as of yet mad a decision on what i will do with the car. i just wanted to see if something would work, i had some information and i was going off that. that information was incorrect.

P.S next time ill spend months of research before i ask for information on TS that way i wont get beat down on.

no, ask away. there is a lot of people willing to help others on here (myself included), but repeating a logical reason why things won't work several times kinds of irks a few people (myself included).

well i am sorry if i irked you but i ask alot of questions because i like to make 100% sure things are right. because past experience has taught be the many people think they are right and are most often not. so sorry again but i was exploring all possibilities.

i just dont feel that a smart ass answer is the way to promote new an inexperienced people to use TS as a medium for knowledge. perhaps think the smart answer but don't post it?

You wanted help in this thread without providing all the information as to what you intended to do. You just claimed to have some secret way of getting around a system that a lot of people on here know like the back of their hand.

so best next time you want help, be upfront and don't speak to people like they don't know anything.

you would have saved everyone (including yourself) a lot of grief if you just got straight to the point to start with.

i allso had a cage mocked up in my toyota curren and no u cant keep the back seat!

thats for the pic dude. i had been (incorrectly) under the assumption that

a) that diagonal didnt have to be there
b) that horizontal could be a bolt on removeable

say you had 2 buckets in your celica
could you use a 5 pt harness and just run it back to the rear strut brace?

I could be wrong, but I don't think you'll be able to find a harness that will reach that far back, and I suspect you might not be able to do it that way because the strut brace is bolted in and not designed for the purpose of stopping a human from flying forward in an accident.

AFAIK, harnesses MUST be attached to either a harness bar on the roll cage, or a steel plate, of a specific size (maybe its in Schedule A of the motorsport manual thing?) with a loop welded to the floor of the car. I'll see if I can find the bit I'm talking about for you.

Pretty much the whole of the following excerpt is relevant. Also, with a bit of searching, a lot of the answers to your questions can be found in the pdf I've linked to above. If you're serious about modifying your car to compete in motorsport events, it could be a good idea to have a read through the whole thing, there's a fair bit to take in but as you go through you'll find you can skip sections which aren't relevant to your car.

From Page 162, under the heading "Safety Harness Installation"

5) Anchorages: If installation on the vehicles existing anchorage points is impractical, new anchorage points may be created, in which case the following shall apply;
(a) For each new anchorage point created on the bodyshell, a steel reinforcement plate of at least 64 mm x 64 mm x 3 mm or equivalent in area with radiused corners, chamfered edges, that follows the panel surface with the attachment hole centrally located, shall be used, and
(b) Shoulder straps may be anchored directly to the roll protection by;
(i) Eyebolts in combination with inserts (Refer drawing 253-53), or
(ii) Eyebolts affixed to a flange consisting of a minimum 4 mm thick steel plate, wrapped a minimum of 30% around and welded to a transverse bar (the flange shall not be reliant on a ‘butt weld’ type fixing), or
(iii) Looping the straps around a transversal bar in combination with a guide to prevent sideways movement.
Additionally the straps may lean on an appropriately positioned transversal bar to enable the installation angles to be achieved (Refer drawing 4.3.3), and
(c) Where a HANS® system is worn the shoulder straps shall slope downwards (0 to 20 degrees – ideally 20 degrees) from the uppermost point of contact with the HANS® belt bearing surface to the anchorage point on the vehicle. (Refer drawing 4.3.3), and
(d) Each anchorage point shall be capable of withstanding a force of at least 12.5 kN, applied in the direction of the installed harness strap. Where two straps share the same anchorage point the force considered must be equal to the sum of the required loads, i.e.25 kN.
(e) Harnesses specifically manufactured for single seater applications shall comply fully with the manufacturers installation and anchorage specifications.
