ST205 Suspention

does anyone know of a cost effective JDM brand of suspension for a st205

also has anyone converted these to non superstrut and used tradition McPherson's struts?
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

i wouldn't know. quite possibly different cause the st215 is a wagon.

ST205 is a Celica
ST215 is a Caldina

I would say that there will be some serious differences... as for what suspension there is for the ST205, check out that link you were sent to yesterday...

yes u can convert superstrut to oridinary susp but u cant convert ordinary to super strut

D2 do a coilover kit for them.

Probably ok for a road car, I know of several people with them in road cars who've had no issues. Drifting is a great way to totally destroy a car :lol:

I swapped out the arms, suspension, hubs, brakes for ST204 non superstrut components. I have no idea as to wither or not it will work as of yet as I haven't had the car aligned. However the arms bolt straight up, the hubs and suspension bolt straight in. Do note that you will loose those large brakes and calipers unless you can mate the rotor to the hub and remount the caliper. In my case I had to loose both anyway as the caliper wouldnt clear 15 inch rally tyres.

If you're considering getting D2's don't, get BC's instead, infinitely better product at only a slightly higher price

Its a rally car. Superstrut was originally designed for rallying but they found replacing all the joints every stage rather tedious. So all the rally ST205's ran McPherson strut. The ST204 stuff plugs straight up, as I guess would the ST202. Dont worry, I have replaced the struts with Bilstien's and I'm currently attempting to turn down the disks and adapt the 4 pots to the 15 inch rally rims.

if it is a road car, replace super strut bits with new (all 4 bits will cost you under $800), and that will last you another 100k+. I just did on mine and the stuff on it was warrantable when I replaced it, it made huge difference, the car feels more solid, suspension rattle gone.

you had a look on DBA website, through all the catalouges and see if there is a factory disc you can fit with a suitable offset adn size? i managed to, and i wouldnt' be suprised if you could, just a thought

TRD make adjustables , and Coil overs - Both tried and tested on many St205's here in Auckland including my own

Tein make St205 Coil overs , Very VERY expensive though ..

Bilstien make a insert you can modify the struts with , i believe this is what Richard runs in his blue group A

Koni rear shocks are the same as St185 , in fact so is 98% of the rear end. I rewn Koni adjustables in my St185 in oz - loved them ..

D2 do make a coil over , i sell them thru work , wouldnt touch them ..

Stock Struts work just fine for a road car , Seen good results on garys old car ( now franks , which is also had KYB Adjustables , TRD adjustables and now TRD coil overs ) with King springs used in cnjuntionn with them

C-one make coil overs

KYB make adjustable struts , but are Ex japan only via greenline racing

Redmists car is a special case being a rallycar , if his setup works that would be kind a cool as an alternative

neal bates motorsport ( last local campaingner of the Group A WRC St205 ) i believe has the bits also to to the mcpherson strut swap in from old toyota tooling ..

I believe they use the same pieces even up until now on their ARC cars , and personal workshop cars ..

Hows that for a slab of info for you !
