Tell me about these cars

Postby SIKBUZ » Wed Feb 27, 2008 11:24 am

Ok so i am in the process of "probably" buying a Toyota Sera as a run-around car to maybe bring to work and take other places where i cant (or wont) park my FD

Its in not so great exterior condition but thats not a worry because i'll tidy it up - in saying that i dont want to spend money on it other than petrol

BUT I have questions from anyone who has owned these (or knows about them).

What problems do you know of? What to look for? Etc..

And general comments about the cars :?:

:!: Yes i know they are little and not very staunch but i want it as a cheap car to not care about and that i can maybe do a GT Starlet or 4AGE engine swap later. :!:

Glass is more expensive than the car. Smash the glass lose the car.
Other than that it is Cynos.

I think the whole set was closer to $8000?

Anyway, they good little reliable cars but glass cover is a must :)

You could look at a Corolla 2, same car without the glass.

Why not get an EE90 corolla or something like that? It will go forever and use bugger all fuel plus spares are plentiful if you ever need them.

Yeh, or why not go for a FXGT. That way it comes readily with a 4age, and if you buy from the right person it will be dirt cheap :)

The only EE90's i've seen have been more than i would pay for this..

And the Sera has better aerodynamics (for the conversion later  )

lol...good luck getting any insurance company to insure you!

from memory, state was the only one that would even think about insurin one, and thats only if u have multi other policies with them and ur like 100 years old...as a small fender bender, and the whole car can be a write off!
they hate them!

you may not intend on breaking any glass... but tell that to someone wanting your phat beat maker.

I wouldn't touch one for the glass cost alone. By whats just been posted, nor will insurance companies... with good reason :P

It would be a cheap as runner.. But im going off it now that i've seen the costs for the glass replacement. Depends what price i can get it for as its rego is on hold too which means extra costs.

Might look into a CHEAP 4age corolla
