i did the 5% on the rear windows of my wagon as they are big and easy with no real curvature. think coz he is legit business he will only do what he supplies to go on ie 35% . Other dude to try is Tony from Soundway he did my front windows up home as a perk in garage with tint film I supplied. Big thing is having a dust free environment when getting it done.

what would be the advantage of having darker than 35s?

from the cars I've seen with 35s on them, it'd be too damn hard to see through them at night, so any darker would be just annoying.

or am I just getting old?

Your to old

Your buying a family wagon for gods sake.

If it was legal I would have gone a bit darker on the front side windows of my car to match the back, as you can see through them fine at night.

I had a look at Mikes, but having a Mrs that works as a finance chick at a car sales has it's bonus's...

Carbase is watching the auctions for me, for a car with the following, in this order ...

5spd manual 2000/01/02 Facelift ST215
Black
Low-ish kms

The last one they bid on would have cost me $14k landed, 2002, 30000kms, but they didn't know what sort of budget I had in mind... It's good to have "hookups in the biz"

Although, I must say the talk of $2.40 per Litre for gas is kinda scary... the Caldinas have a 60L tank, thats a $144 fill... ouch... gotta hope they are wrong, really really wrong.

8O So do skylines..... that is quite scary :? Maybe me and Andrew should look into getting a cheap runabout... (although, its not a bad idea...)

Back on subject for a minute, does anyone actually know how much it costs for professional tinting? Only asking to know if it would be worth it one day, instead of getting mates to do DIY jobs...

Sometimes the mind, for reasons we don't necessarily understand, just decides to go to the store for a quart of milk...

think it was $200 for him to do my mrs gtr celica including materials and labour , the the rear window with the curvature in them is a pain. he has a garuntee / warranty also on no air bubbles etc on his worksmanship.

i was going thru yellow pages the other day and there is a 10% discount coupon in the front of it for tint magic

8O $200. Eek. Here's me thinking $30 was bad for installing an SSE sticker on both windscreens of my car.

$200 would be on the cheap side for a proper tint job with a guarantee

do it once and do it right . it not cheap repco tint he uses either , 3m from memory. another place to try is auto art on strathallan st estate as they are a vinyl applier put i think that they may also tint??

depending the size of the whip it maybe cheaper than $200 as it was 3 years ago now she got hers done and it is still mint as no lifting on the top of windows and no bubbles appeared in them any

I thought station wagons were allowed darker tints in the rears? or is that another urban myth?

No, they are the same as everything else. A lot of stuff comes with factory tinted glass which is legal, but if you are tinting stuff that isn't factory 5% or whatever then its not legal. Basically you can have 2 identical cars, one with factory tint and with aftermarket stuff. One is legal, one isn't
