Never as a personal car. I owned a few as car yard stock. And you're right, over time they could rust.
My point being though that comparatively it was the Japanese brands, and particularly Toyota, that were rusting earlier.

yeah... rust....

as an ex aw11 owner, and currant ke70 owner.... i will make no comment, other than my nightmares are rust coloured.....



now, escorts... if i could afford one id have one in a second.....
very cool cars!
just like most things there age, parts harder to get and costs more to make them go as well as a later car.
still, BDAs still toast WRXs and EVOs in rallys!! :D

Heaps of aftermarket bits still available for Escorts though, moreso than AE86's I'd say! Just check out Palmside's list of bits for them.
