It is a proper AE86 as a donor car? Or just an AE85?

It's good to see you've managed to pick something up so you can swap bits over to your race car.

its kinda sad to see that shell in that state actually - i had a bit of a look at it while it was a complete car down at tama, and it was $&#$% mint. spose it was kinda inevitable though since apparently no-one had japanese de reg for it.

I have heard of a guy that has mouds for fibreglass replacement panels for the AE86's if you ask around i'm sure you will find some more information.

It'll be Mike Shaw fiberglass in hamilton im sure.

Definitely Mike Shaw..... My old flatmate works there and apparently they can do everything except the roof and hatch. I just wish they did AE92 stuff.....

Finally, the process starts!
Ended up getting a brand spanking new R/L Quarter from Toymotors for $400+gst (down from RRP $1800+!). That way its completely rust repair free.

Managed to find some 99.5% rust free doors also.

Will be putting some extra bars in the cage prior to the full repaint.

Believe it or not, that chasis was pretty straight. Very much superficial damage, although all around :(

Make sure you get the cage re-certified/homologated & log book updated after adding new bars.

good to see it on the road to recovery! I know exactly how you feel, i did a similar thing to the starlet, took 12 months to get into the shop to be repaired. although it was my fault. Now back on the road, see you out there!!
