anyone reccomend good exhaust work in upper hutt?

Postby flygt4 » Sun Feb 24, 2008 9:56 am

I have a really good exhaust guy in porirua from when i lived in tawa, but but am now in upper hutt. my car has a dodgy wheel bearing and don't want to have to drive it too far. bearing is due to be fixed when i go for wof but need exhaust leaks fixed first.
need an easy section of 3" exhaust replaced and a wastegate dump pipe fabricated and merged with exhaust as well.

most exhaust places i've found to be pretty rough and charge a lot for the work done, has anyone used someone out this way that they were happy wih?

I had Maidstone Mufflers put in a new flexi years ago. Nice job but a bit expensive.

In saying that, the guy wasn't interested in fabricating a wastgate pipe to my old manifold.

Try giving Shane at Mendoza Mechanical a call. He's keen on just about anything, and if not - he would probably suggest somewhere that will.

yeah im trying to minimize the amound of trips i make in it so as not to damage the bearing too much further or get a bigass fine for no wof/no reg.
not 100% sure on what the rule is when driving it to places for repairs required by the last wof, and my month after testing has expired.

i could get the bearing done, then the exhaust, then back for wof but thats a lot of mucking round,I could cut a whole trip out by getting the welding down locally and combine the bearing and wof etc.

thats cool i'll have a word to them.

the only thing that needs a bit of thought is the wastegate dump pipe as it'll require a 1.5" flexi before the merge and need to flow pretty smoothly to prevent boost spikes.

exhaust is a straightforward job to replace an existing leaking 3" section from flrange to muffler and fasten the hangers more securely.
