It depends on the driving you do as well. I was going to put 18's on my SW20, but im sure on the shitty country roads i drive on, id bend them in no time. 50 profile 15" ftw :lol:

If i lived in town id go for the 18's, otherwise id take the bigger sidewall of the 17's.

Check out the Caldina I have for sale on Trade Me it has 17's chromes but is not lowered but still looks pretty good!(It's the one in Ch Ch with the yellow stripe!)
I have upgraded to a newer Caldina Gtt and I put 19's on it! Yeah thats what I'm talkin about will post photo when I figure out how?

i just swapped from 185/55's on my trueno to 185/60s (original tyre size) and the difference in ride quality was amazing.

low pros ftl.

thats the point people are trying to make :lol:
especially as station wagons are designed to be comfortable. too many people value aesthetics over functionality.

i still can't understand why people think a "slammed" car looks cool.
I really can't see any benefits from it on a street car and the vehicle suffers practically in a lot of ways.

For ride quality, handling, and cost of tyres 17's have it hands down.

For looks, it's a matter of individual preference, but I like 17's better in that respect as well :twisted:

same brand and model of tyres?

if not, i'm sure 2 different brands/models of tyres will handle differently, even if the sidewall is the same.

Bumpers get wasted on curbs and driveways
Exhausts smash on speed bumbs
Tires get chewed from the camber you get when lowering
Tire rubbing if your unlucky enough, also wears tires
Worn out bushes
If you have coilovers, bump steer on our shit roads

Thats why im not gona sack the Forester, I may put lowering springs to drop it a tiny bit, but not sit it on the ground like my Skyline was. Horrible :oops:

As it is, the front bumper and the exhaust scrape on bumps and driveways :(. It was imported from japan with those springs, not sure what they are though. I will not put any rims on my car for sure, too much hassle, always have to make sure that you dont go over curbs, attract theifs, price rise in insurance etc etc.

You can fix ALL of that. For the 2 first ones, take more care when you drive. For the rest, all of that can be sorted by making various adjustments and doing it all properly.

The benefit = looks $&#$% sweet. Am amping for the day I finally pull finger and get the KP sitting at a far more sensible height... where sensible = no air between tyres and guard.

If it were me though, I'd be hitting a sexy set of 16's with some sticky rubber on em!

This was both my GTT's but I've since sold the one with the yellow stripe!
The one on the right is slammed on 19's and has only done 56,000k's and has full kit and I'm currently working on intake setup for GTT

run 18"s they look way better i have sold a few 17's for caldinas now and not that cool, they just dont fill the guards up enough.

BTW 225/40/18 would be a better size than 215/35/18 and cheap 2 $220.00 for dunlop direzza's

Smaller sidewalls rule, everytime I've gone to a tyre with a smaller sidewall the improvement in directness of steering etc has always been welcome... remember we're talking street tyres here so no comments about race tyres and their high sidewalls as they're generally of stiffer construction.

I'm investigating 165/55's for the Starlet at the mo, I reckon they'll look superb.

Although the Trumpy is gonna get more balloony profile tyres, but that's for a good cause too :wink:

I have 205/60/15 on mine currently. Was thinking of going to 215/40/18 and free springs from mag and turbo but dont wanna have to deal with tyre rubbing etc... Anyone know what offset ill need to avoid it?? And if they only give you one sort of spring etc... or which is better if they have a couple of options?
If its got tits, tyres or an aerial its gonna cost ya!!!!

Has anybody put Golf MkIV or Audi A3 etc rims on their GT-T?
I was looking at these:
Used for 2 months and then changed....
18x7.5
35 Offset
225 40 18 Diamond Back Tyres, 99% New.
Great condition, barely any marks, tyres are like 99% new...

I gather the VW centrebore is 57 but the toyota one is 54.

ive got 18s on my wagon. with i think 40 series profile, can still go up curbes if u want, im running btwn 34 38 pound just getting used to the car. And it sticks like sh*t on a blanket on cheap tyres. Even the 18s look a little small. But it's lowered and dont have any problems with rubbing etc. Feed back isnt always a bad thing either. Lets you know whats going on around you.
