hey pick on people that deserve to pay lots of interest to rice their cars

regarding the back seat, who cares about passengers in the back, its your car so i wouldn't even care about that issue. The seats are there as an option, so compared to say a MR2 its still got good rear seats 8)

I've bought 4 Sils through Bling bling and I know the mechanic very well so I can say that the Sils they get in are good cars, hell half the time I go down n have a look at them myself n pass on any things/mods they missed.

If you want a unmodified S15 find a NZ new model that way its been in Nz its whole life, you can still find good clean unmodded versions around.

Don't be afraid to post up on the silvia forums too dude we're all pretty friendly over there.

Yeah I just think its hard to tell what the life of an already modified car has been like. I like the look of the silver one they have with the carbon bonnet and te37's......but as I said I wanted an unmolested one. Yeah you guys seem pretty cool, just don't know anyone over there :)

they should be reliable
hardly heard complain from s15r drivers
but the turbo one does 7 km one liter on gas

so if you really want to save gas stay with toys ~

I'm onto my 3rd silvia. They are actually amazing on gas, that is if you want it to be so depends on your driving. They only real problems i have had with mine is turbo gaskets, other than thats they are pretty reliable cars. There are heaps of parts all over the show as with all Nissans. There is always someone parting out a silvia. Even the S14 modey is quite nice.

There are a few forum sponcers on nissansilvia.co.nz who can get cheep kits and parts. Just get a front mount, de throttle body which is 60mm as opposed to 54mm, 3 inch exhaust and the intake. Then get a tune and you will be easily making over 200kw. Then get a set of adjustable suspension body kit and you have yourself a mean as car.
But yeah, there is crap all room in the back seat, i'm glad i never have to sit back there...

What do we reckon of this, Can anybody confirm the compression test has good results?

Excuse the size of it, any smaller and you may not be able to read it!

Theres a few nice ones on trademe at the mo. Like others have said, if possible get a nz new one. I got mine last year off a 50+ year old man, had done 65000km and paid $17000. If you get a standard one you can do it up the way you want to if need be in the future

Um, apart from having a pre purchase test done by anyone other that the AA!! Their tests suck arse big time.

Is this a test you commissioned or the standard dealer test?

They said they could get they could get an AA appraisal done for me because I cannot view the car. They emailed me a copy of the report with todays date on it.

AA tests are pretty crap... but if you have nothing else, then they "do the job".

The compression test is impressivly close.

most important thing about an AA check is the compression, any other problems will surely be less stress than a f**ked engine.

I got an AA test done on my BZG 4.5 years ago, compression was good so got it. The rest of the report is piece of mind that its not about to fall apart I guess.

Any check done by a company can have holes picked in it as shown by a thread last month which was done by VTNZ or someone that said it was good.... then failed the same car on the things that were "fine" going by their initial report

I've often heard the relative compression tests, aren't as reliable as a traditional compression test.

Any truth in this?

Also thats a AA apraisial, The inspection goes into alot more depth. As for compression tests, It would be better to get a proper one done.

hey guys, Still looking into this...........Would a 3yr Auto Sure warranty for $1160 be a worth while investment?

WILL THIS BE VOID IF THE CAR GETS MODIFIED? Would only get wheels and aftermarket suspension (adjustable).

Depends what you're claiming on, and if you do it before you buy warranty.
I bought a Autosure warranty with my Forester, but it already had exhaust, filter, etc changed.

Then I added a boost controller, and had to claim on the clutch and they payed out.
But I bet if I claimed on the turbo they'd have a shit and say I raised the boost too much..

no racing at the track either I don't think.

However, 1160 seems to be rather excessive. When I bought my car I was very n00b so wanted to be covered so got warranty for 3 years. For $600 tho! I think it was drive right or something, most of ya premium is probably commission for the sales yard.

However, if I was buying again tomorrow i'd pay the $600 again as its good piece of mind for 3 years. I guess the increased value of the S15 could warrent the extra cost, so could be worth the $$$ One claim and you have ya money back most likely
