Best drive train?

Postby Urban-Cruiser » Tue Apr 08, 2008 12:06 pm

What type of drive train would best suit windy hill roads? Not gravel. I'm looking for grip and speed.
And any suggestions on car?

And I'm going to go Hewland or Xtrac sequential longitudinal transaxle, Porche 934.5 CV's, sway away 300m axles.

Still you might have to build a car around the drivetrain.
The answer is Helmholtz!

Old DTM cars seem to win the Berg Cup hillclimbs, so I'd hit one of those

Failing that, an ITR will get you over a hill the quickest for the most reasonable amount of money. :P

I think that this should do it.

It matches Revhead's criteria as well

Smart arsses.

Ok. Just want a car to have fun around the hills with. Just want to know what would be the best suited type; fwd, rwd or 4wd. Of course i want the car to grip; eg not sledge off the fu.king side.

That should have been in the first post, right?

so a car to have fun in on the road?

aw11
ep70
ae82
ae92
ae86
te71

um yeah....

hard for us to answer that one....
my hack at the mo is a bog stock 200k ep70 1000cc fireball.
and its a BLAST on the road.... it handles well and you dont have to be doing 200kmh to have fun!

on the other hand my wagon corners so so well its an absolute blast in the corners aswell!

really the best thing for you to do is drive a few different things and se what you like.
just dont count out some of the cheaper or lower power options

get something RWD imho.

depending on budget...

ae86s are still way overpriced, though the market for them looks to be dying off a bit.

you can pick up carinas and coronas for cheap, and carinas in particular can look freakin awesome! and if you are willing to hunt you can find them with IRS as well.

havent had much time behind the wheel of an AW11, but they are highly spoken of, and i always liked SW20s.

if you are looking to spend more... RX7? S2000? :D

oh and what revhead said - drive a bunch of stuff and find something you really like.
