I was told it was the car to beat also, he did bloody well in a non caged full weight road car and a bloody shame he bent it.

There was talk that one of the skylines, i'm not sure which was tuned by Soichi and makes 580kw atw?

for the record....EVO88U made 404kw atw at 2.2 bar boost on the dyno but couldn't run it at the track due to spark problems.
Boost was backed off to just under 2 bar and dwell increased to boost spark so was probably making around 380kw on the day.

I think well driven the car would be capable of lapping in the 60 second range.
Data logger showed 279kph(oops) top speed which was a little surprising (and scary) too. 8O

Scotty I think you should get out and have a run with Kane's GTR he might surprise you a little. That car is pretty quick around Manfield he did a 15.2 on Semi's on the weekend and is looking to throw slicks at it so I'm thinking he might be in the same ball-park time wise as you once he gets the slicks on board of course.I see the Cheapskates advertising all over your car I see Mr Green has been hard at work.......

No surprises there, his car is still in the early stages of development and showing some real potential, he can also drive very well.
Planning to get up to Manfeild very soon(its been a year now) and try to nail down that 1.10 i've been dreaming about for awhile now and i'm sure Kane will be down there soon too.

Congrats on the 1.17 also, well done, you and Mr Green will be head to head next time out.

Are you serious about your car being no faster on slicks ?????
Jesus I would have thought you'd be at least 2-3 seconds a lap quicker.

I think there like a magic trick I used them for the first time on the weekend and found 2.5 seconds unbelieveable I found the hardest thing was knowing how much grip there really is and forcing myself to put the car through corners quicker and not back off with the go peddle. The weakness for me is between the ears.

I have seen Evo 88u develop over the years and the amount of $$$ spent and it is true Scottie deserves all the success and accolades that come his way.

Yeah, but like me they probably dont fit into the rules with reg/wof etc etc.
I thought it was for street cars, not race cars, otherwise it would just be superGT.
That's what irks me. The first time they ran this they were saying how it was for street cars... Sure all the cars that entered were street legal....

although it is always more fun to be at the top of the field than the bottom.
Better my own times.... better someone else's times... I like the latter... For me half the event was laying down time for myself to better.. the other half was making sure I wasn't last...
If it's purely bettering times.. trackdays FTW... If you wanna whip the pants off ya mate.. SUPERLAPIT!

All good points. But what about letting any jap race car turning up and race n in unlimited class, which I think PC maybe planning. I think this would be great to see them all running together in a superlap.

Good or not

I thought the whole idea of Superlap that it was more geared towards street cars.Drive up and anyone with a JDM car could get in and have a crack.More of a grass roots entry level sought of motorsport. Now when you have cars that have had 100 K plus spent on them it becomes to a certain degree a cheque book event.

But I mean if NZPC want to gear the event that way thats there perogative it just might not seem that inviting to some.If I were doing it I would have a true street class no cages no semi slicks and no trailered cars drive up drive home.

I like Superlap, I think it's a sweet idea, I like the idea that people can show up to a race track, pit themselves and their machines against other people in a safe and controlled environment. I reckon the element of competition is something you don't get from a regular track day, and having proper timing gear is really cool cos then you know exactly how well you've done.

Its motorsport, someone has to win, and it's not always going to be you. If you can't have fun without coming first then perhaps you're better off playing solitaire.

Exactly, it's not like they put Joe Flatpeak in his RB20DET Cef daily driver against 600hp evos which are fully race prepped.

Thats da way boys great comments so lets get more people turning up.

By the way you may think the way I talk about this event that I get paid for boosting it up NOT THE CASE, but I have been to both events and I love seeing your cars come out to play. To be honest I am getting pi--d about having my ass kicked, but I will be there for the third superlap

Although the classes are not really classes that will make for good, fair and even racing.

1600 corolla racecar would be in the same class as Scott for example.

I think someone has done this allready

Unlimited Race
a 0-1300
b 1300-1600
c 1600-2000
d 2000 and over
e 4x4

Then repeat for Roll caged
Then repeat for Street

Fast's three From each class go to shoot out. Now you may say that the unlimited will win top 3 place. Well last sunday will prove you wrong, I was so set to win overall (just my car had other ideas). And we see this time and time again with 2ltr cars an under with monster HP. Never put your money on the fast boys.

Alot of these so called streeters are really thinly disguised racecars with WOF stickers and rego's,hence why I mentioned a proper street class with the owness on drive up and drive home.It really is quite easy to regulate the more powerful cars and you don't need classes to do so all you need is to put all cars on street rubber take semi slicks out of the equation and away you go.

Yes I do think there should be a unlimited class and they should open the rules up to what ever you want. But the main owness should be kept in the street class as it is more of a reflection of what everyone drives everyday and its what people can relate to more.Seriously in the import scene here in NZ what % of people can relate to driving a $100 K plus EVO,GTR Supra or Honda not many I would suggest.

the problem with what you're saying is this - in theory, if they have a wof and a rego, then they can drive to and from the track, and they can argue that they have come on a trailer/truck because they don't want to be stuck there if they have an incident and break something, which i think is fair enough.

as for semi slicks, you can legally use them on the road, and i drive on mine daily, and although it's probably very uncommon for people to do that, in my mind, they're still a street tire.

Another way of making this event more far, might be to class vechiles dependant on what has been spent on them.

Not really fair having to compete against 100k plus prepared cars, in you 10 car.

But then again it is a nzpc run event so will nevr be fair and will always suit who ever eats the most nzpc ass

^ bullshit, all of it.

The day is about who goes the fastest, period. Same as in Japan. Stop with the moaning, if you're not fast enough, spend some more money, brush up on your skillz and go faster.

If you want regulation, go run in a proper race series. I love the Superlap concept.... come one, come all (to an extent, as the rules do exclude non-Japanese/Asian cars I believe) and winner takes all.

Not everyone has 100k to build a superlap car

I think there should be some sort of class's for this

No point entering if you do not stand a chacne of even competing

Y do they have a normal olympic's and a speacil olympics

To give evry1 a chance at getting some glory

Not just those who have a open cheque book

At the end of the day, a skyline turning up with a chip, pod and exhaust isnt going to win.

Any organised event that has potential for advertising/ marketing is going to be dominated by people/sponsers who can spend $$$ and get the win

Fact of life.

Well go and run your 10k car in the special olympics then. That's the dumbest analogy I've ever heard regarding the Superlap. Actually made me look kind of like this  If you were to analogise (is that even a word?) Olympics/Special Olympics with Superlap, you'd do one for for cars running perfectly, and one event for cars say, running on 3 out 4, 4 out of 6 or whatever cylinders, or with a flat left rear tyre. Because, everyone needs a chance.

Shit, they should run a class in which I'll roll a standard 1986 Mazda Etude auto in it, with steelies on the front and mismatched alloys in the rear running retreaded Enduro's. Can I please have a class, because my car sucks but I want a chance at glory.

They don't run secondary classes in F1 for shit teams like Super Aguri so they can have a 'chance.' Superlap is pitched as the best... if you think you have what it takes, enter, but don't bitch and moan cos you either suck at spending money, building sweet cars, or driving, or all 3.

Edit for grammar!

Care explain what my "toypeed attitude" as you put it is?

i'm just being realistic, which is clearly a far fetched idea in your opinion.

Maybe you should start hassling the Formula one people too as they discriminate against people wanting to race their 4age rollas. theres a time and place for everything. Superlap is not a place for shit cars, deal with it.

or just get that 100k loan and stop complaining.
