MR2 electric PS pump

Postby Bazda » Mon Apr 14, 2008 8:43 pm

Does anyone know how they actually work?

ie, there are the power feed wires for it, then the 3 extra ones. What kinda signals actually get set to these 3 extra ones?

They're often referred to as 'EHPS' (Electro Hydraulic Power Steer)

search for MR2 EHPS or similar on google, should turn up a few things...

Found this fairly quickly

P.S. Yeah I'll have a look tomorrow after work regarding what the wiring etc looks like, cant remember off the top of my head.

P.P.S. What's your alternator rated at? Pretty sure that MR2s that had PS had a beefier alternator than celicas etc, or non PS MR2s.... dunno if it would make a difference though.

P.P.P.S.

This might be handy

Yea, I'm pretty sure the PS MR2's were 80 amp.

Really? Cause I'm pretty sure my original one in fatboy was only 60A, and it doesn't have power steering. I got a replacement one from a turbo model and I'm sure it was 80A.

I had a feeling it was, did a quick google and came up with replacement ones that were 100A too. May just be US modles or something stupid though. You still remember things about your SW? Hurry up and get it on the road :D
