Looks mint, pretty powerful too.

Aux in and motorized faceplate. :)

My god, fusion made a headunit that doesnt look like crap. Always been a pioneer fan my self, just watch the fuseable links for the RCAs, IE dont plug in amps while the headunit/ amps are switched on.

+1 for Pioneer units, I've owned a few now and never had an issue with one of them, currently got a DEH-P6950 and couldn't be happier with it.

I have a Clarion as well which has served me well, but it's user friendliness is appalling.

Dont know about Alpines midrange gear, but i found their better gear (9835) was damn awful to set up. The pioneer i can pretty much set up the eq's etc while driving. Not recommended though

Do you reckon it sounds better than pioneer? Thats all i was really thinking of... the reality appeared to be that while pioneer did not sound quite as good, the different was so small that the pioneer was the smart money...

I cant remember it was a year or so ago. Pioneer sounds mighy nice to me, if you want a good SQ based pioneer, grab a Pioneer P80RS, they seem to be coming up rather cheap second or one of the retailers was doing them for about $600 new on icemag. Bit over budget i know.

Things that annoy me about pioneer.

The stick thingee that changes volume, and track and folder.
.... Hit a bump and you can do all three at once.

The lack of random skip. Playing random songs, hear a song you aren't particularly in the mood for, press skip, next song on disc not next random song. Annoying as hell.

The glowing changing faceplate thingee. Anyone who drives with a pioneer at night knows this. It changes from blue to black and attracts your attention away from the road. Even more annoying.

But...
I can't say they don't sound good because they do.
I can't say they aren't easy to use because they are.
I can't say I wouldn't recommend them, because I do.

But just be aware they will piss you off.

Really,

You never used to be able to. That's good to know, but what would be even better... if it didn't do it to begin with. :P

IMO find yourself an Alpine 9835 second hand in good cond.
awsome H/U and with a lil help from some knowledgable easy to set up.
They have a webiste for the ipersonalise where u can set the Crossovers etc up and load it onto a cd and pop it into the H.U and bam your done.

Should be able to pick one up for around the $250 mark.

Id have to vote Pioneer too...

But there is always this: Sony CDX-GT50Ui
It prob doesnt meet ya preout requirments, but its a good head unit for the price, plus it has 3 input options. 1) Direct connect Ipod 2) USB stick and 3) Aux plug
I have it in the company car, and it sounds great.

Plus ya cant beat the price either
