*** NEW KARTING SERIES ***

Postby NILPSI » Sun Apr 27, 2008 9:31 pm

Right guys,

Everybody has been on about a new karting series for this year, Myself, Tristan and Brett have sat down and come up with an idea that we think will be a lot more fun for all involved and also will rely more on strategy than just outright speed, we have discussed this with the owner of Daytona and arranged a pricing deal and rough bookings so they are very keen to run this from their end.

How it will run,

We will be running with anywhere from 6 – 8 (8 being the maximum that Daytona can legally run on the track in this format), 2 person teams, each team will have their own name, The teams will stay the same throughout the whole series.

A warm up will be held of 5 minutes, in this time both drivers must have a warm up in the kart (meaning a driver change must take place during the 5 minutes), If a driver change does not take place the second driver must get into the kart after the warm-up and they will start off the back of the grid. The grid placings will be determined by the fastest times during this warm up, after the 5 minute warm up is complete the karts will stop behind the grid and will be placed from 1st to 8th according to lap times. NO driver change will be allowed at this time so the driver that runs 2nd in the warm up MUST do the 1st stint in the race.

The race will be run as a straight out 100 lap race, meaning the race finishes when the first kart gets to 100 laps, the only catch is that each team MUST complete 8 driver changes in this time (when is up to the team, this is where strategy comes into play), If a team does not complete their 8 changes then they are removed from that round of points scoring. There will be a pit window where all 8 changes must be made.

At this stage there will be 5 rounds, the cost will be $25 per person per night (normally for this kind of event it is up to $37 per driver), we have made an arrangement with management that the any team that competes in all of the first 4 events will be allowed to race on the fifth night for half price! We have also discussed with the manager pre-paying for the series if that is a path that your team wishes to go down to secure your spot

We will choose a start date when we have adequate numbers, also please let us know if you would prefer fortnightly or monthly races, we think fortnightly would be a better option but again it comes down to peoples choice

There are more rules that we have for this event, so if you would like a list, have any questions or would like to register a team please contact
daytona@halfassedmotorsport.co.nz and either myself or Tristan will be in touch with you

Cheers,
Sam

Once Toyspeed interest is gauged and if we don't have enough teams to run the event, we will be approacing other car clubs.

Get in now and book your teams place!
